Just wondering what everyone is running for boost referenced Fuel Pressure Regulators(FPR's) I know of the following options.
Summit Racing Cheapie for about $60
The boondocker PG mod that takes a copper cap and puts boost to the stock FPR
Any of the many expensive 1:1 referenced regulators by TurboXS, Mallory, JDM, etc...
Any of the so called "FMU's" which have adjustable rising rates anywhere from 4:1 all the way up to 10:1???
I ask mostly because all of my turbo machines have always used an expensive external one but personally if the copper cap mod works well, I think it keeps the fuel system much cleaner and is a very good solution. (I know BD does this on their pump gas kits, and maybe twisted too?) Not sure why BD doesnt do this on their race gas kits unless the stock one doesnt flow enough, or maybe they just want to charge more?
I'm also curious if anyone with a pump gas setup with a 4:1 FPR, how much more boost could you run due to the extra pressure at boost? (pretty sure this is OVS's setup)
I appreciate anyones discussion / opinions on it. I've got all my own ideas but its nice to get input from others!
All the above questions assume replacing the stock pump with a 155lph wahlbro in the stock position going through the stock FPR.
(FYI for those who don't know what the 1:1, 4:1 stuff means, it means that for every pound of boost that goes to the FPR, the actual fuel pressure will be raised by that factor ie. in a 1:1 at 10lbs of boost, if a sleds fuel pressure at no boost is 35lbs, that regulator will put it up to 45 lbs.(35lbs +10lbs). in a 4:1 reg the same sled at 10 lbs of boost would be 75lbs (35lbs + (4 x 10)lbs))
