Alright, I’m finally looking to get my forks set up correctly and leaning towards a full spring/revalve job, but also considering simply adding air, as this will be a summer bike as well.

What are you guys running? Post your experience and thoughts...

I’ve got a ‘16 Husqvarna FE501 with WP 4CS forks. We mainly just ride steep trees- and small/mid jumps. I’m planning on using this bike in the summer as a dual sport/adventure/fire road cruiser. I’ve got a separate bike set up for summer singletrack.

The more I think about it and read, I’m thinking that adding air to my forks may be the best bang for the buck when I need to transition in the spring/fall
 
We Have RG3 Springs and valving on three bikes. Chaun at McAlister's Big 4 Motorsports set up the forks, two bikes for my daughters with 58 springs and valving and my bike with 62 springs and valving to match. The girls bikes do have the Air Pro also. We can add some air pressure if we put a bigger rider on. These are dedicated snow bike forks. My bike is a winter only machine. The girls bikes have lowered forks for dirt.

I haven’t heard many negative reports on adding air to the forks so I just pulled the trigger on some AirRide valves. Should have them installed for riding next weekend.

I priced out the springs/revalve at $350-$750, depending on the tuner. While that’s probably a great setup, at the end of the day I need something that’s easy to change out in the spring/fall and I feel that adding a little air is the best solution for my situation. I went with the Air Ride as it was half the cost of AirPro. (Still expensive for what it is, but it’s “plug and play” and will do the job.)
 
Brock Buttars at Brockstar Suspension did my KYB's on my Yamaha. Brock was the only person I found that would actually take the time to explain exactly what he does to make them "work right."



I used to race ITA, F-Prod, Honda Challenge cars, so I know enough about suspension to have a decently informed conversation. I couldn't find any other suspension company that said anything other than, "send em in and I'll make them right."

Side note: I have 3 days on the new setup and they are absolutely amazing. Plush in the top of the stroke, ride nice and high in the stroke and came nowhere close to bottoming out. I believe Brock set them up with a .60 spring and then worked his magic on the slow and mid valving stacks. He is also very reasonably priced and a really nice guy to deal with.

Brockstar has done several sets for me. Fair price and great service! I have also ran the airpro, but it isn't in the same league.
 
Brock was the least expensive I had found for sure. I was surprised at the difference in cost between the 4 guys I had called, for what seemed to be a similar product. If I didn’t need to swap in the summer I’d go that route- maybe I’ll keep an eye out for some take-off forks.

I have a set of 2015 4CS forks that I would sell. Also have a set of 2017AER that I would sell
 
I've been running the AirPro for 3 years now on 2 bikes, a KTM 450 and a YZ450F with no issues. Easy to install and adjust and works great! You wont be disappointed with the AirPro.
