what exactly do big wheel kit do on the sled ?

Reduce rolling resistance

Your track is literally bending around this little wheel in the back. The older models (especially Polaris) had very small Wheels on the back. The longer the Track the greater the resistance. The Bigger the wheel the easer it is for the track to roll around it.

Wester Power Sports WPS makes some reasonable priced units units.

This is my Edge it had very small wheels, I put these 8" WPS units on. You will need off set rail extentions to make up the Diameter.

My 05 900 already has 7" Wheels I might go to 9".

Yep reduce rolling resistance. I think 8" is the way to go any bigger and its just for style. I have 10.5" wheels on my rev haha

I would bet that when tracks were real thick, this was more of a benefit...there is also a plateau of efficiency related to wheel size and track thickness ...with the one and two ply very flexable tracks I would also think the factory wheels are on that plateau.....
evolution + bigwheel kits = money not well spent lol:face-icon-small-ton

You don't have to use offset rail extensions to run larger diameter idler wheels. They make offset axles for that purpose if you want to swap to larger idlers without extending the rails. I have an offset axle (from 6.25" idlers to 8" idlers) that allows me to run four idlers, or just two inside idlers (or three idlers if that's what I wanted to do).
