What does it act like when a Throttle Position Sensor goes faulty

I have an 07 XRS with the full Bikeman 880r kit and other mods. A very good motor. About a month ago I noticed while trail riding my engine would loose a slight bit of power, almost like a limp mode, while cruising in mid range. Over the next several rides it has became worse. It runs great on bottom end of throttle and at wide open throttle. In mid range is starts to miss or goes into a limp mode. Plugs good. Compression good. Both sets of jets cleaned. Newer pick up triggers. It seems to act up only when warm. Engine temp normal. Works perfect while cool or during the first few miles of a ride.

could it be the TPS?

Thanks for any thoughts

Steve

On an 800R I was working with testing a clutch kit on, the engine would stutter like it was lean to the point of detonating.
Full throttle and "flutter"
4/5th throttle 8200
Full throttle and "flutter"
4/5th throttle 8200
....wtf?
Kept lowering the clicker to load harder and even down in clicker 1 to make 7600 rpms
Full throttle and "flutter"
4/5th throttle 7600
Full throttle and "flutter"
4/5th throttle 7600
clicker up...same flutter but higher rpm at 4/5
clicker up again...same flutter but higher rpm at 4/5.
Wasted day of testing on that sled.
Took to dealer and they hooked it up to BUDS to range all the sensors and voila..."TPS" change it out and 8200 again all day long.

Sometimes you can actually feel the difference in the throttle pull if you squeeze very slow, when the tps wears out. You can actually feel it change.Typically where the throttle has been run the most. If you're running EGT's it will drive you nuts as it will move up & down more than normal at the same rpm etc. They can be a real pain in the ------.
Also the light would sometimes start flashing on my 06' because it was " out of parameters". You don't need a "buds" to set them either. I put a Polaris TPS on mine cause that's all I could get quick and set it with a buddy's TPS tester. Took it to a Skidoo dealer to be sure later & he said no way I could have got it right. Was spot on. Not rocket science for sure.
