Just wondering what everyone wears for knee protection out there? Personally I really like asterisk knee braces, they're pricey but I ride mx in the summer and sledding without em has left me with a very bad left knee. What do you guys use? Are there sleddign pants out there that fit over full on braces easily?

Looked at the asterisk braces..... I like my knees, but damn.... that's a lot of $.

That being said.... Last season I used the cheapo $15/pr knee guards.... busted four of them through the course of the season; three lefts and a right. Last one I busted had my knee hurtin for about a month, and still bugs me when i ride horses/bulls. Kneeguard had slipped down and out (Had that problem with all of 'em i tried) and caught the brunt of the impact but still left my knee vulnerable to the side.

Finally picked up a pair of Thor Force knee guards for about $85/pr.... Fit nicely enough under my pants, though I haven't ridden with 'em yet. They seem to offer a lot more protection around the knee, articulate nicely when you bend your knee, and don't move at all. Theres neoprene that wraps around the upper and lower leg and then two straps below and one strap above the knee to really lock everything in.

Yeah, that link is a good one. Give it a read. In the end, you are really just looking for a knee guard for injury prevention. If you already have a knee problem, you may look closer at a brace. Check out your local MX dealer, they may have some you can try on. You might find that you prefer the ones that attach above and below the knee.

After blowing out my right knee racing motocross I bought a set of asterisk braces. They are SWEET. They are custom built for your size. They are a bit pricey. But being built for motocross they are built to be small enought to fit under gear with no problems at all. Also the are pretty light and very comfortable.

Fly Moto Knee/Shin Guards. Use them on my dirtbike in the summer too. Work killer and only cost me $39.

After ruining my acl and meniscus..sp?.. I now use asteriks. Don't even bother with knee/shin pads or guards. The cost of the braces may seem like a lot. Compare it to a doctor bill... I haven't gotten my knee repaired yet cause I don't want to miss any riding time. I would highly recommend asteriks or cti's. For me, the best part of the braces is the adjustability and personal settings. They will not let my legs straighten completely and also help stop side to side movement. My KLIM pants fit over them with no restrictions or problems.

Going to be getting either Asterisk or EVS Carbon Fiber braces this year. Messed up my knees too many times in the past to keep riding without them.

No there not. You buy s,m,l,xl, etc..

I have been using them for 5 years and still use the original pair. well not exactly, I broke one of them when I broke my femur, but they replaced it for free. Doc said if I didnt have them on, I would of destroyed my knee. good company and they are worth the money!

doc told me the same thing about my right knee. I have lots of nerve damage in it now but its a lot bettter than it would have been. Now the resulting damage from the brocken femur almost cost me my life....
Wish I would have bought the braces earlier though, sitting in a machine all day with a bad knee is pretty painful, two days wages could've saved that one. All it took was one hidden stump with no braces.

Aw you could be right, perhaps its the CTI2's that are built custom for you.
