What do you think should be done with government seized drug money ?

Well my girlfriend works in the death business where she works they have
a crematory she comes home the other night and says the US Mint had contacted the company she works for to contract them to burn all seized drug money ! They've done similar things before for other agencies and unfortunetly the government provides an armed gaurd that watches over the burning as so no one get's any "dirty money". I for one would think the gov. would use the money for some use. With all the "bail out's" and printing more money which in turn brings the value of our dollar down you would think they could put that money to good use ! and maybe keep the value of our dollar a little higher. What are you opinion's ?

Seized drug money has always gone to help LE combat drug trafficking...it gives us better equipment, tools, and resources to fight these POS's. It also goes to help fund DARE....it goes to help fund anti-drug campaigns like you see here in Idaho...all the anti-meth billboards.

I'm sure you can find problems with the way it is spent, etc.....but everyone is gonna have a problem with the way government spends money. I received a much better bullet proof vest from seized drug money. So if some druggy decides to shoot me...I have a better chance of going home and seeing my two boys.

...so no, the money needs to help fight drug trafficking. I think my opinion counts a lot more than others on this issue. ...not meaning to sound cocky....but we risk a lot to bring in this cash.

That's the way I would want it spent also but why burn the money ? once it's gone you can't fund anything with it.

-Rehab and help programs for addicts.

-Enforcement against the high level cocaine and heroin importers and dealers.

But on the other hand burning the money will work against inflation wich should help offset the trillions of bucks that your gov has been electronicaly creating over the past while lol.

Oh yes I forgot. The money does go to pay confidential informants also...and T-BO I would agree with you if drug treatment had a good success rate, but it doesn't....it is horrible! Someone just won't change unless they want to and most people in drug treatment have to be there, not because they want to be. It is a waste of money for the government to be paying that and if someone pays for their own treatment...they will be more likely to change.

Burn drug money? Maybe it was traceable, or very contaminated, or there was a simple reason why the wanted that particular money gone. I bet the police get credited for the cash.

How I would spend it. Simple, I'd research a simple way to poison the drugs, so you died instantly if you inject them. Then just release the drugs back on the street. Sorry, but good people die here, and in other countries, so some junkie can shoot up. At the very least, their complicit in the murder of those people. Drugs and the associated money, also destabilize governments and turn honest people into crooks. Either legalize it, or get tough with it. But, don't let it drift along destroying everything in it's path. I have a solution to world population too....., but that's another thread.
