What do you guys think of the Pro Ride defrost bag?

RSI bag?

Thanks guys for the ideas. Any chance you could post some pics of where and how you mounted your RSI bag? I bought an RSI bag for his old mountain max, and apparently, I'm a dummy and/or I installed it in the wrong place or the wrong way or something because when I ran a test day on it, I went to get the goggles and they had snow all over them :face-icon-small-hap

I guess my hope was that if I bought that Polaris bag, there would be an exact spot and direction to place it, so it would be less likely that I screw it up, but if one of you has just the right spot to put an RSI bag in there, then shoot, I can buy 3 of those things for the price of one Polaris bag.

Also, how big of a PITA is it to get the poo hood open and closed to be getting to this under the hood bag. (Sorry, he hasn't actually driven up to Idaho to pick up the sled for my personal examination yet. If nobody answers this question, don't worry about it, I should be able to find out for myself in about 2 weeks.) I originally bought him an RSI bag to go in to his Nytro as well, but he just decided to take that one back based on the fact that opening that hood takes more effort than he was willing to expel.

I like the bag, especially being warm... IMO the more storage you can put on these things the better. If you can stand putting an extra pound or two on your sled you might even be able to pack a lunch!

I ordered one, this is too handy not too! Just dissapointed it was not incorporated into the design like BRP or Cat.
As far as key location, I'll just pull the key out if I need to roll it (no need for it to be running).
Also IMO, it was a pain in the azz to open the side cover to access the underhood goggle bag.

Here's a pic of the bag installed, not only the key, but the display screen are both in harms way in my opinion. I have removed the bag.
If I was in need of alot of storage, I would probably relocate the ignition switch and try it.

if you don't like this bag, get the polaris underhood bag. It is worth its weight in gold. Works great and is easy to get to.

Installed last night

I installed mine last night along with the new front bumper. Easy Saturday night project, instructions included with both are decent. The bag looks and fits well with the mid-height windshield. It wouldn’t look as good with a lower one. The windshield and bars are above the key, so unless you are rolling it in concrete, I don’t have the same concerns as some with the key breaking off. I also agree that the new bag strengthens the windshield. Storage is great and will easily hold goggles and gloves. And the absolute best characteristic is the relocation of the gauge…very, very easy to see now. I am very happy with it!!

No need to relocate the key switch. I just cut the bag and left the key inside of the bag out of harms way. Why relocate? No worries this way. I'm going to plug the hole in the bag where the new switch location was supose to go.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks tons guys. That seems like a pretty good idea to just not even relocate the key switch. Especially if the machine isn't an electric start version. Taking it out to roll the machine over when you're stuck in powder seems like a risky proposition. I can just picture it now as you fumble the key around in your big gloves and end up dropping it into 4 feet of fresh powder.

The storage is quite a bit. The access zipper on the right being zipped in the up position seems wrong? It leaves a little opening. I guess you know if you got it zipped all the way though. Seems strong and the windshield design seems stiffer so I think the combo idea might have merit. It would look goofy with a low windshield.

key switch plug

i installed this bag on my non-estart machine. at initial install i moved the key switch to the new location. after lots of debate, i removed the key switch and tucked it into the velcro "pocket" inside the bag. I already have a tether and the kill switch so the key switch seems redundant. I was able to find a nice 7/8"nylon plug at ACE hardware for like $.36 and it fits perfect and looks way better. This should be a real nice setup.

Great idea for those without E-start......

If you are afraid of dropping the key just teather it....:face-icon-small-hap
There is a chance we will bust the windshield when rolling as well, but we dont look for solutions to relocate it!!!:face-icon-small-con
I suspect most of us typically clear the snow where the windshield is gonna go and careful when rolling our $$ toy to get unstuck.:bounce:

bag

"I ride a Pro and they don't get stuck so I don't need to roll my sled over lol "

What he said a few posts up. Bought the bag with a $25 off Polaris coupon,I think i'll like it. Just need more snow to test everything out some more

For those without electric start, just remove the ign switch. there is no need for it. Keys for this sled is a joke. What's the point of a key when you have a kill switch?
The bag is awesome and in the deep stuff I ride in it will be very nice to have warm spare goggles and gloves. Also with the guage relocated it is in better view and also leaves a nice spot for a BD control box under the factory guage.

If someone wants to sell their bag for the right price I would buy it for my 2011 spare.

Installed my bag today. I think I will be relocating the key back to it's original location.
The quality of the bag seems good and I like how high the gauges are now. There's more than enough room for an extra pair of gloves and goggles.

Any suggestions for the install

Gonna install my Pro ride Defrost bag tomorrow, any tips?
How does the gauge cluster come out?

Take the side panels off and also the wind shield and hood. Youll need to loosen the head light assembly (three brass screws and also on outside of hood theres another two screws). and drill a couple 5/16th holes to mount the bag then your screws that hold your hood on also hold the bag on. Bag comes with good instructions and only two plastic mounting studs. Make sure your main wiring harness is on the correct side of the hood when you go to put it back on so it lines up with the one on the sled.
