What Do You Consider to be the Best Snowbike Accessories?

I'm sure everyone has their favorites but, what are your favorite accessories for enhancing the snowbiking experience?

Maybe some items could be considered "Must Have" and other would be considered "Nice to Have".

What are your favorites?

I googled Powersportstech to check out what you are referring to but, I couldn't find the air inlet you are talking about.

It sounds like a great product but, could you please link what you mean?

Do they make air inlets for all makes and models or do they specialize in one particular brand of bike or model?

I have a few things I like to have on my snobike setups but would not consider any of them a must have.

- Tunnel or handle bar bag; keeps any unnecessary weight off my back.
- Coolant Temp guage; with as much as coolant temps can fluctuate during a ride I like to know what my coolant temps are.
- Stiff fork springs; Stiffer the better seems to be the consensus so I order .54 kg/mm springs from Diverse.
- Hand guards; I have snobiked without them but tend to hit a lot of branches and trees.
- Dobeck FI controller (Fourstroke Only); with my recent purchase of a FI 450 mx bike I had heard a lot about over-fueling and wanted to setup the bike for sucess so after doing some research the Dobeck was the obvious choice. I only have one ride on the setup but it worked flawlessly and the bike pulled like a freight train all day.
- Boondocker style intake; with the help of a friend this year I built an intake identical to the wire cage one that boondocker makes. It has minimal surface area behind the prefilter for ice to build on and pretty much unimpeded air flow, it works very well.

Great tips and funny you mentioned food Whistlerhawk.

I was looking at the exhaust pipe under the rear fender where the exhaust pipe, just before it goes up into the muffler and wondering how I could attach a muffpot there for some warm food. :face-icon-small-hap

Has anyone done this?

I have handlebar bags on all my sleds but, what is the best handlebar bag for a snowbike application. I don't think I want it to hang over the headlight and scratch it up. Is there a good one that hangs down on the rear side of the bar?

Do you guys use a GPS mounted on the bike or a GPS APP on your smart phone?

So far, so good but, do I need a special intake modification for a 2010 KTM? I see there is an Outerwear cover over the stock foam air filter. I also see the vent lines have been routed into the airbox and there is tape on the upper portion of the side panels.

I have a muffpot on a 2014 Husaberg but the stock muffler on them runs real hot (my 525 KTM wouldn't keep anything warm) I made a cover for the muffpot out of styrofoam that helps keep the heat in and the snow off. Usually it takes at least 3/4 hr of ridding and some hard pulls but it will melt the cheese eventually.

Some guys are stuffing their food between the muffler and the right side cover and that seems to work well for them.

Sure beats cold granola bars.

Good stuff above already but here is my "must have" list.

- Extra Gas Can
- Bag (for food extra clothes etc)
- Toolbag (I use Timbersleds small bag for tools, First aid etc that ALWAYS is packed)
- Pipe shield to protect pants from getting burned
- Tuggers (front and rear) from www.thetugger.com
- Handguards with alu bar
- Hand warmers is an absolute MUST have
- Stiffest fork springs there is for your bike
- Electric start (goes without saying in my book)
- Lights on bike and for helmet if getting stuck in the wilderness

This will take you a long way and you will enjoy riding even more! :amen:

As an extra tip I want to add that I have my Cambelbak over my protective jacket,
but under my outer jacket filled with water. Does not freeze under there and very nice
to bring out the hose from under the jacket when stopping and taking a sip.
Got the idea and tried it once and never ride without it anymore.

Rob, that's great stuff. Frankly, I had never heard of the "Tugger". I may have to get one for the front and one for the rear? Do you have them on both end, or just the back?

I see my fork springs are .50. Is that stiff enough for a 170 lb. guy? Or do i need .56 springs?

Also, the "Pipe Shield" you mention. I see my bike has a header pipe cover on it already but, what about the muffler tip? I need one, is there one for FMF pipes?

On my Timbersled demo ride, I had to move out of the way quickly and sure enough, I bumper right into the Husaberg muffler tip and melted my Klim pants. I got the repair estimate to fix it yesterday and it's $230 to repair the pants. Yikes! I'm not sure what to do.....

Is one of these what I need? Will it still fit since my bike has an aftermarket FMF pipe? I am guessing it uses the muffler mount holes but, I am not 100% sure.

I have tuggers on both front and rear. They work superbly! Can not see myself with a bike without them, since they are always clean and ready for use. Extra grips is also good when one need more hands than two to lift. =)
I have both a pipe guard and a similar silencer guard (most for summer use when falling over to the right so I dont dent my Akra silencer), but of course it will help during winter too.
If it does not fit exactly for your FMF pipe I am sure u can bend it a bit to make it fit.

Yes, Brad does make them for almost all makes. He usually asks a few questions so he makes sure it fits how you want. I switched from my standard sx pod filter to the powersports tech filter half way thru the day and it was a significant notice in horsepower gain. No sputtering, crisp throttle, and pulled harder. I will not ride without this setup anymore. They are 130 bucks but you will not regret the purchase plus it is something you will be able to transfer from one bike to the other. not to mention it sheds almost 5lbs off your bike by the time you remove your stock air box and boot. I will send you a pic

Post the picture here too if you could. Thanks!

Good stuff!

Keep the ideas coming.......

What kind of heated grips?

Bar risers? How high? Made by who?

Foot pegs? Fastway Adventure or ????

Tunnel gear bag? Which one do you prefer and why?

This is my bag with a specially made fastening made by Ultra High Strength Steel and almost invisible without bag in place.

Hand warmers I use these ones. Expensive yes, but VERY good! Heat-Troller is a must in my book to get the temperature just right.

I have had 1" bar riser and I am just shy of 6ft tall.

Gonna try my new Husky TE449 -11 out first and see if I need bar risers and which height later on.

Anonny, do you have a picture of how your mounted your muffpot?

Sounds too personal. At least for this forum lol!

Wow, I never thought of it that way.......:face-icon-small-sho
