what color to powder coat my A-arms

I ride an 06 Xfire 700 sno pro, its all green. I am going to powder coat my a-arms because I don't like the stock gray color, and because i am tired of the paint getting chipped. I wanted to go with a chrome but was told that chrome is not real durable and it needs to be clear coated to keep it looking okay. I assume it would just be a paint clear coat because i don't believe you can powder over powder. I was thinking maybe white. What do you guys think? Any pics of green sleds that look cool. thanks

Pink:D
you going to do the spindles too? Green like the new sno pro sleds would prob look the best on average. But I like the idea of white just not sure how it would look, add some white skis and it would be one of a kind.

Most metallic powders need to have a protective clear coat, you can definitely spray clear powder on top of already baked/cured powder without any issues. We do this on our assembly line with a Black Chrome Base and a Clear Protective top coat. For us it helps hide fingerprints when using the clear.

Tiger Drylac and Prismatic both make nice Chrome powders

Either black or green.

Yes, I know they're Firekitties...

I am going to do the spindles too. I like black but to the average joe it just looks stock. Green would be too much i think because the sled is all green. A mix of the two would be cool. I was kinda thinking white with black spindles. Can powder coat be powdercoated over other layers, or can it be sandblasted off (it might be tough)? Thanks for the input, I will post pics when i decide on a color.

Aircraft Stripper, VHT, etc... for removing powder coat.....Sandblasting would take forever and a day to remove.

Clear powder is fine as a topcoat, but to paint another color you will need to strip off the old powder to get a good bond. Some places can do a certain level of rework if they make a mistake, and it pretty much involves sanding or etching the original powder and then a very skillful application of the new powder. Again for the time involved you are better off stripping the original powder, and also some types of powders just do not recoat well in any situation.

I suggest www.lo-ko.com for any small jobs

If you are unsure on color check out NIC Prismatic's website, they will send you a sample spray on almost all of their colors. You or your powdercoat guy can buy from them, powder is fairly cheap for a small job on a sled.

Here is a link to their website:

I really like their Pearl White metallic

The problem with using a clear over the chrome is that it dulls the chrome. I have had better results using an acrylic clear powder over chrome but it still dulls the chrome base coat. If you are stuck on chrome you could use a chrome ceramic and then polish it. The finish is very durable and chemical resistant and lasts. I like techline coatings CermaKrome.
