I mean really, this hysteria about needing to over protect ourselves has gotten out of hand.

Ever jamb your knee in to the running board of these newer sleds? If you had you would not want to do that again unprotected.
slip off a board, or miss the mount when you step back on the boards, let us know how that works out for you, your klim pants, and your shins.
they don't call them cheese graters for nothing. SkiI wear Race Face mountain bike slip on pads with d3o. Well when I remember to lol.

Man!! I made the mistake of just stepping off the running boards with one foot forgetting I was on top of 5' of snow. My left foot sank like a rock buckling my right knee into the running board, I've never felt pain like that in all my life. I was almost crying in my helmet! My buddy was laughing at first then seen I wasn't moving while holding my knee. I laid there for a good 15 mins before moving.
