What atv to purchase?

Wondering what kind of utility 4x4 atv to buy. I like the yamaha grizzly 700 but I am worried it won't have enought power for me. Looked at the can am 800 and 1000 but I have never ridden one or know anyone who ownes one. As for Polaris I have had bad luck with their atv's in the past but maybe they are better now days?

What would you guys buy if you where in the market for a utility 4x4 atv? I will mostly use it for agressive trail rides in the Black Hills, at the gravel pit, and for hunting/ice fishing.

Thanks,
HoDz

CANAM

Outlander 800 2008 that's the ride I chose. I bought mine in early 2010 as a hold over from a dealer. I had never rode one before buying this one. The only reference I had to them was from what I'd read on the net. I had rode the 2010 Grizzly 700 EI and a 2007 Brute Force prior to buying, both really nice machines and tons of power. I bought mine and put a can on it and tires and wheels (Maxxis Big Horns the best atv tire made IMO) and now have 2300 miles on it and love the thing. You can cruise the trails like no other. You can ride the dunes/ gravel pits, you can tow with it, ride wheelies as far as you want to. These things are awesome in all ways. Any ways this is only IMO and some may think different, but if you ask any of my friends what they would buy if they were to do so, and the answer is CANAM.

700 grizzly is awesome quality, but you will soon want more power. Go with the can am. I ride a brute 750 and will be going to a can am next. JMO

Compared with past atv quality from poo....I think they have gotten better. Their XP is great. So is the can am. Could go the arctic cat thundercat way I suppose too....1000cc is hard to say no to!

550 Grizzly, love it! Lighter weight than the competition (you'll never hear that about their sleds though), extremely dependable, excellent fit and finish, easy to maintain, the best clutching in the business, and awesome engine breaking that really works.

No matter what you get, plan on ditching the stock tires. You would be amazed at how much difference good tires can make.

700 Grizzly here with ps. Never had an issue with power just traction. It will pull a 1200 lb steer with his brakes on and has held up to ranch abuse everyday for over 2000 miles. Zero probs and will buy another in a heart beat!
