does vasalinea\ and cotton really work in very coldweather? how do you sart them just with a lighter or match?
tampons.... dip them in your tank and light..... works everytime....
Vaseline will burn much longer and is way wind proof............
But I bet Graveler would love to put his Vaseline Balls against your Tampon any day.
And yes, I've been know to wear an orange coat during the hunt. But that's the only time.

There is a great sticky thread "what in your pack" in the top of the Alaska section. Check it out. We may carry alittle more than you guys, but alot of our riding is very remote and help is most often only who you are riding with.
Tampons are dry and store for ever......very light as well..... vaseline..... not in my pack......ever seen a sandwich left in the trunk of your seat over 15 miles of whoops....... I would prefer to not have vaseline on all my shiznit.....
Takes very little Vaseline and we melt and mix. I carry mine in a prescription pill bottle NO leaking.
Now go finish that garage and stop talking about Tampons and Balls.

oops, I somehow didnt see page 2....Hadnt heard of the tampon fire starter, I carry the vaselin cotton balls in a film container. I guess I learned something here....

The only thing I've seen the hub hunt is mice at the cabin. He's such a killer!!

I think he's hiding in bed, trying to figure out a way to explain why he secretly owns an orange coat....I would look around I'm betting he has a new orange bike he hasn't told you about........
I like alot of the ideas for fire starting but I like to use WetFire. It will ignite with a spark better when its wet and it is very light. I have started many fires on top of the snow with a little chunk of this stuff.
I carry a few 10 min road flares. They will light just about anything on fire.
