What are you going to be running for the 14/15 winter?

What will you be riding for 14/15 winter?

With the '15 kits being a sort of new "body style" and a full revamp not just a series of bolt on upgrades for older kits, whats are you guys going to be doing before next winter rolls around?

Also curious how this will affect used MH kit prices as they are no longer all virtually identical if upgraded. I have been very suprised at how well they have held value, again, I think due to only one real model so to speak.

I'll be getting a new 15. Honesty the most significant upgrade are the bearings and that can be done on previous model kits. Well worth the update and the kit runs with the new guys.

I think I'll get a new kit and a new bike as well. I really found the limitations of the 300 this weekend. It will become my summer bike.

I got to ride my 2014 S T one time before breaking both of my legs on a moto track.I will replace the driveshaft bearings with the double bearing / housing upgrade.Gonna keep it for a while!:face-icon-small-coo

The rolled forward and up on the chain-case with a shallower approach angle along with the lower ride hight will be the one thing a older model can not duplicate all that well. But than again mine is paid for and with a few upgrades it will be just as reliable and fun. ( for now )

Congratulation to the Timbersled Team for steeping it up like this in one swoop.

( Addressing almost all my wish -- now what is new for my SX kit )

I will upgrade the already upgraded 2013 greasable bearings on my 2012 kit to the new 2014-2015 double row greasable bearings and hope for the best.

Then I will probably wait until 2016 or 2017 when something even better comes along and buy a used 2015 kit.

Limits?? Of the 300??, im not sure there is any last weekend we had a pull off with a 300, stock 450 , and a boondocker 450 , the 300 was the first bike over the top in a straight pull , stock 450 never made it the turbo made it after a few pulls in my track. Pm mtboondocker and talk to him if you thank im tellimg a fish storys lol,,, ya we're 100 lbs apart in weight from turbo guy to me but thats saying alot for a small cc bike to run that hard.

Im plaining on a long track , and new bearings for the 2012 kit woould like to snow check an 15 kit and buy a 14 gas gas 300 for my wife

I have a 2011 track so maybe that's what's holding my bike back. Or jetting. Who knows. Will be nice when my smart carb arrives. It's not significant but when my buddies on 500+ bikes are all getting up in one shot and I bury the tail of the bike on same slope, makes me wonder. Perhaps I'm taking slightly steeper lines as well. Hard to say. They just seemed to get around easier than I do. They 'tractor' while I always need to be at full song and attacking like a mad hatter. It's fun for a while but gets tiring and sometimes it would be nice just to sit back and cruise. I also found I'm about equal in powder but as the snow sets up and the track spins less freely, that's when I start running into the bikes limits. It seems the torque limits become more apparent because the bike has trouble winding up due to the traction. Whereas the four strokes seem to be able to just grab and accelerate. My buddy and I switched bikes (he has a 500 xcw with a 2014 ST) and he agrees with my assessment. Could be the blind leading the blind or possibly my 300's wide ratio tranny, not sure. Mine is definitely more nimble in a foot or two of fresh powder though. Not really sure how they would compare on a handlebar (or deeper) day as I haven't had the opportunity to ride a day like that yet. The other reason I am looking at a second bike is so I can stud my 300 and low elevation winter near town. Don't want to be swapping kit on/off every other weekend so figured its time to have a dedicated snowbike for a multitude of reasons.

the old track SUCKS, i just switched and the difference is massive. the old track just does burnouts and doesnt push near enough snow. the W tranny is also an issue, gear spacing is big. best to gear down and have your top speed suffer a bit. the 300 can out preform all the N/A thumpers if it is set up properly

Same old story there is what just works and is proven 450 F --- and there is the possibility that with the proper mods tuning and know how a light 300 could be totally awesome. While I also like the Idea of the 2stroke rocket and may even be able to pull it of ---- I just do not have the time to commit to do it right. So bolt a late model kit on a late model 450 or up and go - it is simple go -ride have fun.
I guess I am getting older - wiser or Lazy or a bit of both.

I think I'll run the 14 St one more season. Getting a new bike shortly so I'll probably snowcheck a 2016. There is nothing wrong with my 14, the thing has been great. Bearings didn't go until around 50 hours so cant really complain.

Think I am going to build one, KMod skid 136 2.5 challenger track big shafts (no heys splines) big bearings heavier side plates TS ski with my carbide. see what happens might be a little heavier but wont be limping home

just curious on the kmod skid idea? functionally its the same as a timbersled, independent then coupling depending on the transfer block setting the same way TS uses the washers.

Relentless, do you think that the 6 speed is a big advantage on the 300. Helping to stay in the power vs. 5 speed xc-w. I would sure think so. Also unless the 300 has the head cut and the carb modded you are leaving a lot of topend on the table. IMHO

Why does this thread keep getting bumped? I see no updates but it keeps moving to the top?
