What am I doing wrong? 07 RMK 600

I have a 2007 RMK 600. Recently got back form a trip to the Snowys. The sled was running terrible. A person in our group had the same sled with just about the same mods and his was running great. The setups were nearly identical. Day 1, they were set up the exact same. His was running great, and mine was not. So I dropped 2 main jet sizes and also a pilot size and it didnt seem to help. Both sleds were clutched the same, only difference with mods is that I am running a MBRP silencer with my SLP pipe, and he is running a SLP.

So my question is, what am I missing? The sled wont get up to high speeds, it cant climb at all, and it is really boggy on the start.

If it helps, I have a SLP air horn/dash vents, Ported air box, SLP pipe, MBRP can, and clutched to SLP's specs

Did you try to swap out the can maybe its plugged. Is your primary shifting out all the way. When is the last time you had your clutches serviced, fuel pump going out pull a hose off carb see if got good fuel coming out of the hose with it running or just puling it over. Have you tried new plugs.

I'd say definitely the can. And probably still overjetted in midrange.

rmk

we had similar issues on one in the snowies year before last, mine ran great and my buddies ran like crap, all his needed was to adjust the air screws on the carbs,. It fixed the problem. He had a can on his and stock pipe. Thats if its the carbed version!

Good advice so far AND make sure choke cable isn't set to tight, making sure there is just a tiny bit of play in the cable before the bracket moves.

Carb boots partially delaminating is another. Polaris is on a 3rd design.

Why don't you post your jetting specifics as well

when was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? had a buddy whos filter got plugged and it ran just as you described. scratched our heads all day trying to figure it out. replaced filter, and she ran like a top again.

Heres a picture of the jetting specs. I had 270's in position #1 with the pilot jet at 40. Elevation was about 10,000

Being an 07 are the clutch springs , weights ,rollers , belt deflection all in spec and how old is the belt?.
I am always amazed how much better my sled runs with just cleaning clutches and setting the belt defection and always throw out old belts ,they may look good but are to spongy and old.
I never keep a belt more than 500 km , but that's hard deep mountain riding .

Double check choke cable as diamond dave says, I have had this issue before as well and that was the ticket.

Choke

Does the choke go to full choke? Our choke lever would only go straight out and the sled run like crap, it was like the choke was on and it was... Mess with choke lever I bet it's on half choke... Spray WD40 around the shaft.

The lever does go on full choke. I'll do everything that was suggested, hopefully when I take the sled back out in December it will run like it should. Once again, thanks.

Do you have V-Force Reeds in it?

When I ran my SLP single I ran stock jetting with no DET issues and it ran great. Also went down to 40 pilots and .9 pilot air jets, stock is way too rich on bottom end with lots of loading up. Polaris dropped the bomb jetting these, SLP is still way conservative.

No I do not. I have stock reeds

I run my 600 HO RMK with .350 jets and the E-Clip on the # 2 position..Runs flawless...even at 10,000 feet.(Mt.Baker) Have SLP pipe/Airbox and V-Force Reeds also have the 2" flow rites air intakes

600

Dekk, couple questions with 270s top end should rev 8200-8300 what are you getting? Most 600s run great mid and top end, boggy and load up at idle. What pilots are you running 40, 45? fuel screws should be 1 turn out, in less fuel out more fuel. I ran 290s 2 years ago in snowwies, 50 pilots too rich loaded up on low end bad. Now I have 45s .6 pilot air jet and vf reeds ( seem to flow better on low end) same pipe can airbox fire and ice, fire and ice air vents. You got some good advice above, this should get jetting real close, could be clutch issues or can like guys allready stated. Good luck!!!

I am not sure on what I was running for RPM. I am have 40 pilots. I'll look into the fuel screws.

I plan to go completely through the clutches, replace spring, run the jetting suggested by dotter, test the fuel pump, check over the choke cable, adjust the fuel screws, adjust the belt deflection to spec, and most likely put in some V-Force reeds.

Dotter, what are you running for clutch weights and spring? SLP blue/pink? 10-62's?

600

We ran mostly above 10000 also 1056s were a little heavy, tryed 1054 pretty good. With slp blue pink spring. I have since found low compression and weakrings so it may pull better and more weight now. If you stay high 270s should work, I just dont like to change jets out in the cold anymore. I havent tried mtx weights, and had a good supply of polaris weights. Shoot for 8200 to 8300, then try widow maker... maybe not:)
