went hunting for the first time ever.

Shot my first antelope on wed. Night. First time ever shooting a 7mm. One shot it fell down never moved again. Nice buck for my first one ever.

I got a deer tag also but that later this month.

So what to do with the meat? Any ideas. made most of it in to hamburger. and thin strips for jerky.

i did not take very many pics. it was late. but ill try and get one of the head soon.

So any good recipes for antelope or deer meat.

The steaks are really good and the rest I use to make jerky or breakfast sausage. Mix the meat 50/50 with pork for the sausage 'cause antelope is pretty lean. And if you haven't already, skin that thing out! I've seen guys leave the hide on antelope for days... just fine on deer, elk, etc. but goat hide stinks.

IMO antelope makes the best chislic ever!! I wouldnt make any hamburger, just chislic and jerky.

What is chislic, I've hunted a long time and never heard this term. Hey congrats on the homicide. Move on to bow huntin' soon for a challenge......:D:D

This is far & away the BEST antelope recipe I've tried.......
Cut the meat into a few very large pieces, feed these pieces to the cats, buy some beef ribeye & fire up the Traeger!

chislic, is cube the meat in bite size pieces, deep fat fry, then season with whatever you like when it is done. there is nothing better than chislic while you are cutting up your animal. :) we always seem to eat too much while processing.

its skined and cut up already. but my mom and my buddy still have to get theres.

chislic ill have to try that, thanks for the idea.

keep the ideas coming.

Mafesto i hope my wife does not see that ricepe, thats what she wants to do now.

Most guys that don't like antelope drive 300 Mi. in 60 degree weather shoot one, gut it, don't skin it, load it in the truck, drive back home and stop at the bar and celebrate a while. Leave it in the truck till the next day then take it to the meat cutter. If you shoot one and cool it down a.s.a.p. it will be a good hunk of meat. Way better than deer, not as good as elk, though imho. I try to have all our game in the freezer the same night. I like to put a steak on a cutttng board with flour, salt , pepper, garlic powder, then pound it in with the edge of a plate (unless it is tenderloin, we call it "black gut" or backstrap they don't need any pounding) then fry it up in a hot cast iron skillet. Another skillet of fried taters with onions and a little bacon, oh, man it don't get any better.
