Well I'm going to try it. I'll post the progress...

Switching to ATF in the DD on my 09... Just had to change a leaky seal after putting new BDX fluid in 100 miles ago and it came out black and nasty as hell.

I'm done dumping $15 dollar quarts of fluid in there that turn to crap in a few miles.

I figure that if ATF can keep the planetarys in the tranny of my 6,000 LB truck alive with 400 HP, it will keep the ones in the DD alive too.

I'll pull and inspect it in another 100 miles and post my findings.

I couldn't agree more! I love the way these companies try scaring people into believing there product is the only one to run in there equipment. It's nothing but Bullsh*t! Let us know.

Dammit, I just bought some of that BDX stuff, along with the bearing everyone is all freaked about. Maybe I should just get a new DD or maybe a new sled. Always something...

I almost put some ATF+4 in mine that was left over from tranny fluid change in the Dodge. The +4 is full synthetic and half the price of cat/bdx fluid.....i might be trying this also

hey guys i have run mobile syn atf in all my m sleds....no problems ever...
started doing this in '05..on my m7 since i had to replace the seal after blowing it out...just had some on the shelf...used the same logic as rips

Make sure you document with pictures, etc...because you know someone will want to see em.

i just use hyd/trans oil from case tractors cause it was free at the time. from my f7 to m8 i have over 5500 miles with this oil and no dd fails. thats changing oil once a season. i swapped the oil out at 80 miles on my '09 m1 and the cat stuff was getting dark already... smells exactly like gear oil.

I have about 500 miles on a full synthetic ATF.

I run Amsoil Series 2000 Chain Case Lube In Mine With Way Better results Than Cat Oil Have A full season Last Year On Them.... 2 05 M7's & A 07 M1000 With Mods On All No Trouble At All Lots Cleaner Oil & No Burnt Smell When I Change Them Now.:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

I've run 80 or 90w gear oil for a while now. I've used ATF, bdx DD oil, etc, havent been able to tell much difference. I have however gone threw several DD's but one was due to blown seal, 2 were due to failed spacers in the planatery gears, and one due to failed bottom gear at the reductin gear weld. I wouldnt say that any of these failures were the type of oil used.

Anyhow, ATF should be fine for you. I would think though that 10w would be a little light, however ive heard of it...so.....

My advice is worth what you just paid for it.............
