Welding?

What do I need to disconnect to safelt weld on my sled? I know on trucks and such you want to disconnect the battery completely or you risk frying the electrical, just wonder if there is something like this that needs to be done on a sled. thanks

You want to disconnect the ecu for sure. It also depends where one the sled you are welding and where you have the ground for the welder. You obviously don't want the electricity to pass through a bearing.

just attach your ground directly to the part you are welding. You wouldn't attach the ground clamp to the engine then start welding on the tunnel (I hope lol)

I will definitely be grounding it correctly, I am a professional welder so I know what to do there, I was just wondering if I should be worried the ECU and such as was mentioned.

Never know, just being careful. Disconnect the ecu for sure, then from there you should be okay. I think turbo companies have had problems with guys welding there eghaust while one the sled and frying the ecu because in their instructions they have it in big bold letters, disconnect ecus before welding on the sled.

well i havent noticed any problems yet but i tack welded my exhaust together for my turbo and when i used the plasma cutter to install my running boards i actually knocked off my ground and didnt realize it until i couldnt keep the arc so i was ungrounded
