welders/brazers need some help

I want (if possible) to braze mild steel to stainless steel or more specific a weld on EGT bunge to some thin stainless. Is this possible? and what filler material. I have brazed b/4 but just simple mild steel to mild steel with brass. Thanks

in order to join stainless to mild you must use stainless as the filler... brazing will not work, especially because of the heat.... and no you cannot use an air/fuel torch.... if its thin your looking at tiging if you want acceptable results.

309 filler wire should be the right wire for stainless to mild.

308 will work as well and definitely tig but you could mig it with a spool gun and argon gas if that is available to you. Tig is still the best choice though. Good luck it should turn out well for you.
