Weird Belt Wear/Problem

Anyone ever seen anything like this, or have any ideas what would cause it?

I've never seen a belt wear like this. Other than this issue, the belt looks great. No strings missing.
Belt was purchased new 3/21-2011 and has ~3-500 miles? on it I'd guesstimate.

The primary spring was broken, which is when I noticed this...any relation?
or just a bad belt?

Any forseeable issue running it like this? Or as a spare?

I had one do this last year. Dealer ended up giving me a new one! I would not run it, it is very likely it will violently seperate. Mine only had 3 or 4 cog sections missing.

Also, at the same time, i found my clutch alignment was way out. Fixed my alignment and had no more problems, but i believe it was a bad belt primarily.
This was on a Dragon...

Parts are warrantied against defects... that does not look like a wear issue.

Take it into your dealer (Adrenaline)... they should be able to take care of an exchange.

I have seen one other belt like that... It was warrantied.

Don't run that belt, as said above.... it could fail and cause you other problems.

When you replace your spring... deburr the spider nut and put one of the small delrin (for primary clutches) under the spring (between the spring and spider).

This belt was considered "normal wear" and thus not a warrantied item.

What belt can I use that will not wear like this....

Aftermarket suggestions?
Different PN/compound?
I've heard some talk of a Cat belt working?

I can't see all of the belt but what is visible, imo it should have been warrantied

For what its worth, the belt was not purchased from the dealer I took it in to.

However, I figured its a Polaris belt, it would be a Polaris warranty issue, not something a dealer would have to cover.

Anyway, just lookin for some other options at this point.

The Dayco Ultimax has a 1y warranty for ~$90.
Any good? Worth while? If anything its half the price and has a warranty.

From what I see in the pics, this belt is delaminating and should be covered. It is about the only thing that Polaris will cover when it comes to belt warranty. Take it to a different dealer and ask them to submit the pics to Polaris for consideration.

belt is delaminating and is covered by warranty. gotta hurry though because ou have a year from your date of purchase.

I am the one who inspected this belt. It is burned, overheated, cracked, and hourglassed. Note: We just built this customer a new engine under warranty last week....... but the sled came in, and left with no belt on it.

Got it, will see what I can figure out on alignment and if that's a culprit.

Thanks skibreeze for the Cat belt number, did some research, think I'll give that a try as well.
