Wedge chassis Mountain Sleds

Here's some shots of my old wedge. The sled has a few goodies like a M10 with 144 finger track, 700 motor with single slp, custom tunnel. This sled feels old school to ride after riding a new Dragon.

Not much to look at but this was my 98 700 rmk, not much done to it except it had twin psi pipes and k&n filters and the good ole 136", then sold it to my buddy last year who still has it and also a m8.

96 Ultra w/159 and Sever 800BB triple. I have a 700 edge for the wife with twin pipes and new XP. Obviously this does not handle as good but the wedge in the deep snow and hillclimbing is miles above the Edge chassis (Edge chassis is a HP robbing POS) The XP rocks in the deep snow but I am going to have the triple back in the snow this year and can't wait to do some side by side comparision with this and the new XP.

The old ultra got a new chassis, suspension, & track this year. '97 SP chassis w/ CRC should make a good improvement in handling. 162" x 2.25" w/ a holz suspension will be a nice upgrade too. The same HTG 900 as last year. Just waiting for some snow!

98 rmk

building one right now, 153 powerclaw, cat air shock rear suspention, 800 big bore kit, cat running board edges, fastlane treads, should be done in a couple of weeks. will post pics.

the old wedges look sweet all decked out and the triples sound sweet. i dont have no pics but my last wedge was a 90 or so 650 with a custom tunnel, D&R case, mod rear susp, fox shocks all the way around and the good ol slp ultra lite skis. the motor was basically stock other than bored out to a 670, didnt want to pipe it due to the crank bearing issues on the old triples with the triple pipes, i was pretty young and workin for nill at the time so the reliability was more important. even with the single pipe she would still run neck and neck with the 700 twins.

Heres mine look in my sig to see what it is. Doesn't handle as well as the newer sleds but, I still havea blast on it.

1994 xlt turbo

I rode my old wedge from 1995 to 2005, started out as a high mileage used Yellowstone rental, then First choice Turbo in 1995, then it got the full meal deal in 96, drop and rolled, 9 tooth drivers, one piece tunnel, all Bakers light wieght chromolly suspension parts. In 2000 I had enough of the turbo, these 580 triples with turbo had alot of lag, and flooded real easy, but they went straight up hill like mad back in the day. This sled sounded like an Indy Car, had exhaust straight out the side. Anyways I sold the motor / turbo and put in a 700 twin with SLP pipes, reeds, slp head, sled worked very good and quite reliable right up to 2005 was the last season I rode it, and then I bought a new 06 summit X 800 and left it stock. Sold the Wedge for 2500.00, There was alot of money spent in 11 years with all the changes, tracks alone, 133 original, then 141 for a few years then they made the 151's, had to have one of those, boss seat, digitron, all the goodies.
I miss the sled, the chassis set up was great for climbing, and mine actually rode pretty dam good, but I sure don't miss all the tinkering.
Sorry no pic's, there all on 35 mm.
I did keep the girls wedge though, it's all light wieght stuff with just a souped up 488 fan (80hp) and only wieghs 400 lb. nick named, Freedie Fan.
