It somehow never occured to me that no one else would note his sudden passing here, but it seems appropriate to me.
Kevin Pellini from Granby Colorado was killed in a freak accident on October 24, 2008. He was working at his logging business and a beetle killed tree struck him from behind. It was not a tree he was working on, or even watching. It simply fell. It was windy that day, but not enough so that most of us would have thought it was not safe. If you knew Kevin, you would know he was a consummate professional and never left things to chance. Beside being a friend and co-worker, he was a fellow snowmobiler, groomer operator, and devoted to his family. He leaves a wife and 2 young children. He was 43 years old. There was a benefit for his family last night in Granby and I know there were over 200 cars at the high school. I just thought I should let more people know what happened. Not only for Kevin and who he was, but to call attention to the dangers of the forest where a lot of dead trees are rotting at the roots. When you are sledding this year or playing in a forest area that has been hit hard by the mountain pine beetles, please be extra careful. I know the odds are really slim this could happen again. Just watch out for each other, especially when it gets windy. There are too few of us already!
