Just saw the start of Fox 9 in the cities.

Chit schools are closed for tomorrow all ready. Cause the wind chill is hitting -40! Mind you well Hill City is closed my old town of McGregor is only 2 hours delayed.

Still, when did we become such pansies? They showed folks b@tching about the cold and the dumb ****ers had hats that didn't even cover their ears or no hats.....let the morons get frost bite and learn. Hell my 4 year old has more sense then that(maybe cause when she wanted out in the snow without boots I threw her feet first into the snow).

I swear I went to school when it was 30 below actual temp. Only time I remember school being called was when it hit 50 below.

The rest of the nation is gonna think we are weak!

thanks maf.

I'm gonna ask my parents tomorrow to confirm, but I swear in the time it took for me to go from 10 to 25 we did undergo pussification.

Its funny how you mention people b!tch about the cold. I went to the bar a couple weeks ago when it was -30*C out. Pretty nippy to say the least and guess what? I see people walking out with NO coats, NO hats, NOTHING thats even remotely warm on:confused: just their nice "going out on the town" clothes. I wondered if people are just that dumb and then a saying my old man told me years ago popped into my head, "Any fool can freeze".

I love it when people gripe about the cold. I always ask them, "Do you have to work in it or ever worked in that kind of temp?", 95% of the time the answer is no. So quit your whining and get on with your day.

Dress for it and quit b!tchin'. Whining doesn't make it warmer:rolleyes::D.

I worked for the county road crew for 10 years...back in the 80s. If the roads were snowed in we would work thru the nite to get them cleared for the school buses. School was never called on account of the weather. It could be 25 below. Now if its even close to 0 outside the schools are closed. I think its because of a lot of stupid, ...lazy,.. out there, they cant deal with being prepared for it, kids aren't dressed for it and suffer, and the parents want and force the schools to cater to them. If you dont like the weather here ...freaking move to Cuba. And by the same token if our roads are bad with ice or snow the plows dont work any longer , or earllyer than there normal 10 hr day. Yes I would have to agree that we have become *****fied :( .. Dino

Someone should inform them that there are more cloths available other than leotards

X:

They closed the schools in Mahtomedi (NE Twin cities) because of black ice on the rural roads. Busses not real good on black ice.......

But I get your point though, we only had school close if the roads were impassable, back when I was a kid.....

Man when they closed the schools in Nisswa, it was -50. We went out on Gull sledding to friends houses. Bread sacks in our boots kept us warm.

I wouldn't be caught dead in -40:eek: that's some crazy chit.

My sister lived in Holland Michigan for a few years and was miserable, she quickly moved back to Scottsdale AZ.

You wouldn't want to live here then. We've been stuck in a cold snap for over a month now. Last night at midnight, the temp. was -41C and -54 with the windchill. Didn't warm up any more than -25 yesterday.

We just through a cold snap up here in Alaska that lasted from Xmas til now. -25 for highs and -40's for lows...In fairbanks it was -60s for lows. No scholls were closed. I grew up in the twin cities and the only time I remeber them closing school there for weather it was -50 actualls with big wind that day. We had a great time riding our sleds all say that day! Times have changed for sure. Oh yea, in k-6 grages, we had about a two mile walk to school in that weather! I can hear todays mommys about that one now!
