Way, way out of my element....

Typically working on Poo, and have done a few Cats but this is the first Doo in the shop. Installed a Peak kit for a buddy. Boy did I feel stupid sometimes, having to ask some of the simplest questions...

I finished up Saturday morning, and Nathan loaded it up for CO around 1. The plastic carb fitting broke on the ride down, so he had a rough day yesterday. He is heading to Rick this morning, so hopefully things get better today.

The kit was intended for a sled without electric start. So, I fabbed up a cold air intake/battery box. It seemed like a good solution to the problem. Dump the stock battery and drop in a nice 1.5lb battery with 370cc amps. Add some additional venting in the side panel to ensure flow.

It turned out pretty clean. I cant believe how many wires this sled has for a carb. My Pokey has like 4 wires. Next summer I might have him bring it back so we can change a few things around. We just ran out of time, it was time to ride.

The only big issue remaining is the airbox delete. I was not satisfied with the small headlight support. So, we put the airbox back in for now. Just to support everything. Does anyone have any ideas or pics of how to make that area solid without the airbox?

Here is a couple pics... PTO side looks pretty typical, Mag side is a little different...

ski doo makes a headlight mounting bracket for no air box. not sure if it is off of the 600rs race sled. that part number has ben posted on here before. Their is one listed on trask turbo website. I am not positive if that is the ski doo one or one he actually makes.
I have just the one strip of metal that goes from the frame cross suport by the coolant tank to the one bolt on the bottom middle of the headlight. it is not the strongest thing, but it has worked on my turbo xp for the last two years. I have roled it over several times getting it unstuck and had it come over on me once in a climb. I have never lost it and rolled it down a hill though.

Was this a one off kit for the customer? I didn't see anything for the Ptek 800 on PEAK's website. Everything they had shown was Boondocker kits for other brands and Seadoo's.

They usually have a couple kits ready to go. You have to call.

there ia alot to be changed in that there kit. how many hours is that install?

oh better check to silicone 90. it is off the air box. :face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-ton

That is a great looking install and kit. Nice work on the battery box/cold air intake. It should be ripping today.

so your saying you would silicone the silicone coupler to the charge box that has a cnc'd machined edge on the nipple:face-icon-small-con you lost me there.

He is saying that you better check the silicone 90 on the air box because it isn't on the air box. Zoom in on that picture and you will see.

The belt and the silicone fitting... we were just finishing up when I snapped some pictures... it was all taken care of before it left. We had not even started the sled at that point.

Wow Bryce.. you have a lot of guts to be a moderator and bash something like a competitors kit. :face-icon-small-fro Especially someone as well established as Peak. You were one of three people that were called with a chance to sell a kit. Hmmmm wonder why you didnt make the sale?

I am just going to leave it at that.....

turbo800 ... call Rick, he is very knowledgable, and will point you in the direction. Talking to him, he can do from mild to wild. He also has some different configurations for the kit. After some consideration this was just the configuration we chose.

In no way was I bashing the kit. Everything looks good. That is why there is a wink and a smiley face at the end of the sentence. :face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-dis

And yes I know that you was just finishing up the kit when you took the pics. Nobody is stupid enough to not finish the kit before running the sled.

:bolt:

Sorry then for blowin up... but that is just the way I took it, and some other people that sent me PMs took it... again sorry, guess I took it the wrong way.

It is all good. typing just doesn't bring out personallity. Sorry for any bad feelings. :grouphug:

If anyone has a number for the headlight support, I would greatly appreciate it. I've searched through the fourms and can't find anything for this. Trask site has a picture, but no numbers.
Thanks!

Here's a shot of mine w/ the Trask bracket. Finished the venting around the headlights last night. Need to paint the screen still.
