Then into shore for some practice. Turns out I don't run fast in water so all she did was fall...but she laughed each time:D

Next up is a few pulls on a tube to get the sense of moving and to fell pull on a rope. Then I gotta figure out how to actually get her going on skis by the boat...sure wish I had a ski boat with a boom.

bolt a 12" bungie to the boards about 12-16" in front of the bindings to give a little stability till she gets used to the feel of the weight of the boards on her feet. Some times an additional one behind the bindings will help as well.

nice job. one of the greatest MN summer hobbies.

i got my little one out last weekend. her first time. i used the ski trainer off of overtons.com.

works well.

x2 on the boom. I've got one one mine and it's a great tool to teach people how to ski.

And barefoot.:)

We just built a boom out of steel and coated it with epoxy. Coated steel cables to the front eye on the bow. Pretty easy to remove. One very nice thing about a boom is the ability to talk to the person in the water. The up angle on the rope helps with learning also.

It is great that you are able to get her started so young. I didn't learn to ski until I bought a boat.

YES!!! Strap those tips together and she won't fall down. That's exactly how we got our two to ski. We ran them down the shore line and it doesn't matter if the tail drags in the mud....just as long as they can stand up and you can pull em...it doesn't matter.

We did that when ours were 4 and 6. Took about 5 or 6 trips down the beach and we hooked em up to the Nautique...and wammo, they took off. And it doesn't take much throttle...just enough to make em stand up. Not much more than a trolling speed. HAHA. About as fast as I can run them along the beach.
