Water manifold Seal

Hey guys,

Removed my skid plate and all so I could find where small traces of coolant were coming from. Found out the little vent / bleed for coolant on the block was the culprit, which means my water pump seal or something must be gone, right?

Ill buy the seal and redo it, just wondering if I can do this with the engine in the sled or not. I have access through the bottom of the sled, but dunno if its enough and led me to this question.

Thanks,

I believe you will have to remove the engine to install the water pump seal. You can replace the seal by removing the oil pump and oil pump shaft retainer. Then after you remove the water pump cover and impeller remove the oil/water pump shaft and drive the seal out from the oil pump side. As long as you are replacing the water pump mechanical seal you might as well replace the oil seal directly behind it. Make sure that when you replace the mechanical seal that you do not touch the ceramic part of the seal as the oil from your fingers will etch the ceramic causing it to leak.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
