hey
im in northern bc, i have a 2011 m8, and im lookin at putting a turbo on my sled. Elevation is 4-5000', my riding style is mostly boon-docking, i would like to get 200hp, and staying away from av gas as much as possible..also ease of operation is important.. i do have a stock 07 m8 head to use, sooooo in your guys honest opinion what kit would u recommend, i c push makes a cheaper unit, boondocker is got some stuff but more expensive so lets hear your thoughts.
tks

the three you listed, are there any down side to these kits, the push says itll make as much boost with its cheaper kit as more expensive kits, how much boost do i need to make 200hp or so up to 5000'

I would say at 5000' 6# ish should put you in the 200 hp area. One problem with pg kits is you WILL want more eventually. Boost is an addiction. When i was looking for a kit i was told by a few people to just spend the extra $1250 and get the full rg kit. And im soo glad i did. 9# is soo much better than 6 and 12 is even better yet. If you can swing it financially i would go with a rg kit and just turn it down. Twisted gets my vote..

225

I sell the push, ovs, and bd and I can tell you this the push 2995 g kit will pull about 3-5 g heavier weight at same boost. The only issue I have had with the kit is getting them and the consistency of the boost regulators. Some build 8 and some build 6 . I can tell that mine on my 11 with 8 lb of boost is a hoot feels like 12. I have 4 kits left in stock .

tks i see ur point, but im thinkin, i buy new sleds every 2 yrs, so im probably gonna have a 2013 m? and the kit i buy for this sled wont be usefull for the newer sled, so im thinkin i will just take baby steps, plus we dont get huge snow here like revy does, so i dont want to get bored with the ease of things, i still like to be challenged ... but i also dont want grief and buy some pos, and have turbo regrets...

I'm a fan of cutler (have two pull & go RG kits that are stock reliable), but honestly, if you WANT pull & go reliability, find an installer who does them around you. Find a shop who will install for you & take a day on snow with you to tune if needed.

THAT will make the difference between happiness & disappointment.

If you can't find an installer, buy from MMsports or someone who REALLY will give you serious support, because you WILL need it if you install it yourself & it's your first boosted sled.

IMO, it's all about who you get it from, and them supporting you with your questions. Buy one straight from boondickers, and expect to get dicked.

Have you done any research why the cheaper push kit is running stronger ? is the cheper "knock off" turbo running more efficently than the garrett ? or is it fuel control ? that is really interesting.

I just talked to kevin at mm and he sounds very knowledgeable, and direct, i now understand why hes offering a cheaper kit, and why it may even work as good or better than the more expensive kits. I also called a dealer that installed the push cheaper kit on one of thier personal sleds and they told me theve run 91 all year with no issues , so it sounds very appealing to me, roughly 3700$ for everything but install..

kevin told me the more expensive turbos are designed for engines that run up to 30lbs of boost like trucks, and these turbines are not as efficient with lower boost whereas the cheaper turbine is more designed for lower boost application and thus is more efficient, plus its only a 500$ touch to replace it, i guess its like anything bigger doesnt allways mean better, its like 300$ carbon fiber hockey sticks vs 30$ wood, some nhl ers are getting just as fast shots with wood....
