Wastegate adjustment D7 Turbo

I have a question about the waste on a 700 Dragon. I'm trying to turn the boost down as low as it goes with the orginal wastegate spring in order to do some MN testing before I head west. I know that I may have to buy the low altitude spring, is it hard to change?

1. I'm I correct that the boost controller is only the 'fine' adjustement and the rod on the wastegate is the main boost adjustment?
2. How do I adjust the boost on the wastegate?
3. Which way would I turn in the rod on the wastgate to reduce the boost?
4. Is there a rule on the number of turns on the rod and boost controller per lbs of boost?

thanks in advance!

If you extend the waste gate rod it will hold your waste gate open ( depending how much adjust it). That will lower your boost but could be a little lagy. If you tighten the rod up it puts more pressure on the waste gate holding it closed so that when you go to higher boost levels especially with the low psi spring your exhaust pressure doesn't un seat your waste gate and give unwanted bypassing of the turbine. If you have the billet actuator the spring is easy to change you just need an Allan key. Don't run the low psi spring up at alltitude . I could not get 700 to build boost up high no matter how much I cranked the boost controller or tightened the rod. Put the 8 lb spring in and it was a beast. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I neglected to mention that I have a silber kit with a garrett 2860 turbo. It has a rod on the wastegate that is a Z shape. It should have the stock spring in the waste gate, I think. Is a there a way to tell which spring you have?. Ok, if I understand correctly I will loosen the jam nut, and thread out the rod so that more threads are showing. Retighten & test... So far I painted the threads with touch up paint so that I know where my starting point is.

You can tell by the length of the spring and I believe the bigger spring is green if I remember right. If you make the rod longer it will lower your boost. It is not a really efficient way of doing it I would change to the 3# spring and keep the rod tight. I ran that same kit on 07 and besides some little things that sled pulled well for a 7
