Warning...theft at Taft exit, Montana unload area

Unloaded at Taft exit in Montana just over Lookout Pass and got robbed while riding. Someone broke into our trailer and stole over $3,500.00 in gear and supplies. If someone saw something like someone carrying a Yamaha Inverter Generator or a bunch of gearbags,etc... please notify the police (a report was filed). Did anyone else get robbed here today? Please pass this on so maybe we can stop this from happeneing again and be sure not to leave $$$$stuff in your trailer. They removed the lock, so this is not enough.

low lifes

There is no real punishment for theft, my wheels were stolen and the cops did nothing. I found them about 20 miles away at a pawn shop and the cops still did nothing, the guy who pawned them was not charged. I HATE loosers that can't buy their own stuff and feel the need to take from others. Find them & hang em high!!! It's the only way to find justice.. Sad but true.

that sucks !! yeah cops do nothing anymore....horrible. Hope u had good insurance, its a must nowadays.

What time did it happen?

I saw a LOT of sledders coming from the Idaho side yesterday morning heading up there. We drove through there and got to Post Falls Cabelas about 10:30 local time.

I'll bet we saw 25 trucks with sleds heading up there.

Sorry to hear about that. I hate that crap and I like to ride that area. Two years ago at the Pack River so one punched out the lock on my driver side door and stole some stuff.

theft

Was that on Sunday? We unloaded there , I think we were the last ones to get there. There was a grey dodge pickup with some junk in the back that drove through very slow twice when we were unloading.I dont know if that helps at all, but was kinda weird. We had lots of gear in the back of our pickup that was easy access, you would think they would have taken that first. Good luck! Jeff

Thanks for the support

We think it must have happened early like right after we left (we left at just before 11am). The tracks were all gone when we got back. The gray Dodge sounds suspicious. Did you happen to see a Yamaha (blue) generator in it? How about a lot of Klim bags or an O'Neal bag?

There is a lot of it going on with the economy they way it is. Our groups trailer was broke into last spring, they got everything but the sleds. Total replacement cost of all stuff stolen, tools, helmets, beacons, packs, boots, coats, bibs...you name it, 12,300.00. Cops did nothing then, nor did they do anything 6 mos earlier when a couple of our pickups got broke into and firearms were stolen. Lock and double check everything, it's a pain in the *** to replace the gear and tools that are accumulated through years of riding.

locks are only for the insurance companies!!!! only take what you need and hope for the best! never leave wallets and valueables in the truck, i know its been said before but what are we to do?

Taft

I posted a reply on your thread on BCR....and I e-mailed our club President to let him know about this. There are going to be a lot of thieves out and about with the economy in the $hitter. If you are on Snow and Mud also, there is a link page by a guy who sells security systems with a lot of good ideas on making things harder for the bad guys. I see threads every year about people losing property to thieves. Hopefully we can cut down on our losses and put a few of the bad guys in jail.Until then.....watch out for yourself and your friends with the best system you can afford.

This season will have a "lure" in my truck with gps tracking, every turn, stop, piss break they take after lifting it will be tracked....... almost want someone to take it just for the fun of it.

Shouldn't have to come to this. We're all supposed to be on the same side,,, one nation together. Now, because of these kind of azzhats, we have to fight our own as well.

I agree thump.....but there seem to be more bad apples in the barrel all the time. We throw them out...and the legal system tosses them back in. Its no wonder the barrel is getting rotten! I guess we need to make cider out of them..
