Warming up aluminum bars: alternative to cork

Today I went for about a 30 mile round trip. The destination was about 15 miles one way. It was -30c out with the windchill. By the time I got to the destination my hands were damn near frozen. Hand warmers on High. But not really doing piss all to help. They were warm at best

So when I got there I threw the sled in my brothers heated shop and started brainstorming. I saw a can of window and door expanding foam. Figured why not.

So I removed the hooks, stuck the straw in there and filled up to about the bend in the bars. Stuck the hooks back in an let it sit and cure while we worked on some other things.

I did the same trip back home, half way home I was on low. It definitely worked.

If you do choose to go this route, make sure you use low expansion window and door foam, it won't massively expand and put pressure on anything

I did the the same thing. I wish it worked as well as you are saying. It helped some, but it's not a good enough solution.... very little improvment. IMHO

I filled my bars with "great stuff", and I couldn't tell a huge difference heat wise. Seemed to help out with a bit of vibration though.
