Can the steering boxes be tightened up on the 06 superduties or could the wandering be caused by a bad steering stabilizer shock. It has two in the front. What might be a better steering box to get and what are they worth? Its got an 8" rize lift.

It wanders with dual steering stabilizers? Mine did that until I put the duals on. It fixed the problem. Hope ya get it figured out, never heard of the steering box with that much play might have it checked.

the first problem is its a ford. jjk

thats weird with two stabalizers... if its still under warranty and you know a nice dealership take it in there might be something they can do to it.

8" inch lift ? so I'm guessing your running 35 or 38 inch tires ? are they bias ply or radial? a tire that big most times is pretty wide. They can wear almost flat with no rounded edges causing them to follow every rut in the road making driveability suffer. but as others said look into steering components and alignment.

I have an 02 with 6" lift and 37's. I was having the same problem. Went in to les schwab and asked them. The response was the my front tires were cupped. Of course the rears were bald so I replaced the tires (4) and presto! No more wandering.

Dont know if your tires are worn or not, But they might need a rotation or replaced.

Good luck.

Tires are brand new 37x13.5x20 toyo mt's on 20x12 inch dick cepeks rims.I had 20x10 rims before seemed better mabye the stance is too wide for hiway ruts now.I know they rub a bit when turning had to do some trimming. What tire pressure should I be running.

How many miles on the truck? On a Ford I'd always point the finger at balljoints first...unless it's near-new.

It is definately the steering box, there is actually a Ford TSB to adjust the boxes on the 05-06 trucks for wondering and bump steer, but after they adjust it it will drive better for a while and then get bad again. I had the exact same lift on an 06 F250 and had a lot of problems with the stock box, I sold the truck, but if I would have kept it I would have went with a Off Road Unlimited hydraulic assist steering system which include a rebuilt steering box.
