Just bought a pair of 09 take off rmk airs, the guy said they were fine he just wants to upgrade.

now they are off a 09 dragon, with out too much bashing how are they REALLY. If they have problems do they have them right away?

is it just the fronts that have problems or is it the rears too?

Never had a problem in 3 seasons with them on my 07 D7. I am having them re-built/charged as we speak for the first time. Rumour was that the 07's were undercharged at the factory, so I'll see if there is a noticable difference this season. I've also heard that they were leaking for some guys in cold temperatures. I've spent weekends that never got above -30 and never had a problem. Maybe I just got lucky....or folks are bashing WE without the facts???

sounds good, i see alot of people still running them. i guess its just like everything, 5000 people are happy and say nothing and there are 50 people that have a bad experience and it could be their fault as well that gives everything a bad rap that complain all the time

i pick them up tomorrow. i bought them from ktm rmk on here, great guy to deal with. i would deffently purchase from him again if he was selling anything else i wanted

I had the pair on the 08 rebuilt this fall 2200 miles on them, They needed it but had no problem with them, On the 09 they are still in great shape but only put 900 miles on last winter (to much work). They are prone to getting scratches in the shaft and of couse take the seals out. I have not had that problem, have a few friends that have. If the scratches are no real bad you can sand and polish them out, then there ready for more. My bubbies say if they will last on my sleds they should last on anybodys!! Quote Your hard on your sleds!! LOL

Just my two penny's

I have been happy with mine, I installed covers on the ski shocks when the sled was new. The shafts seemed like they would scratch easily, so the covers seemed like cheap insurance to me.

I really don't like mine and have replaced them for this coming season. In my opinioin they are way too soft. I have friends that are happy with them but they weigh quite a bit less than I do. My big complaints with the WE's is they fade easily, and they are not adjustable. To me I can't believe they would make any suspension in the modern day that is not adjustable????? Please tell me - are there any two riders in your group with the exact same suspension settings? I doubt it......Just doesn't make sense to me that they think that it is OK to put non adjustable shocks on a sled.

Out of curiosity how much did you pay for them? Mine only have about 300 miles on them - maybe I will try to sell them to someone that likes the softer ride.

You have some great points, If I were to change I would go with the fox float two's So I could get some of that ajustability back to my front end. What did you go with?

I personnally have no experience with them yet since my new D8 still has 0 miles on it, but I did see a thread earlier that gave the name of a shop that rebuilds them and can add an external resivor and adjustability. I saved the website on another computer so I'll have to look it up later if your interested. It may be a cheaper option than replacement.

i've had them on 3 sleds, two mine, one my wifes'......none of them lasted a full season without being recharged....my 09 800 dragon had to be rebuilt at 450 miles....the sleds are transported in an enclosed trailer and well taken care of....the dealer has charged/rebuilt them at no charge, but as soon as the warranty goes away, so do the we shocks....

yah, the website is called fabcraft. they put on a piggy back and you use a wrench and can turn them marshmellow soft to sledneck stiff apparently. i might invest in this this summer for the fronts, if i can do it to the rear back i might do it to that as well.

Great input, so the issue is getting nicks in the shafts, and the nicks wreck the seals........so sand out any nicks with like 1000-2000 grit and put on we or skinz shock covers....... sounds good.

I called Carl's Cycle in Idaho and talked to Chris in service and we discussed what I wanted and the different offerings they had. I ended up with the Fox Float II's and then they valved them to my weight and preferences and then sent me their recommendations for initial setup. I may have to adjust them a little after a few rides but I bet they are real close to start with.

On my second set of WE's I ordered a custom set of shock covers to go from top bolt to bottom bolt from Shock Pro's. Really cool guy to work with - I just told him what I was trying to do and he OFFERED to make me a custom set for no additional charge. I measured the shock and he made a set for me that covers them completely. Here's a link to the covers I bought.
