How is the riding around Walden?

It's ok. Buffalo Pass....Not the amount of snow that should be there. Only 4 1/2 ft at the tower. Way under where it should be. I went Saturday. Found some good snow. Maybe 2 feet. but mostly under 1 foot of new snow . good for trail riding. But the main trail from Grizzly creek was rough as hell! Needs groomed bad!! And no storms in forcast. Another crappy year!!

Grand Lake has the best trail riding--nightly grooming. the upper 1/3 has OK snow, most land mines have been destroyed.

Rabbit Ears is thin and the trail grooming suxs.

Maybe the Snowies would be better right now.

Winter Park is pretty good.
If you want powder Corona is pretty good right now. Around 8 inches in the trees is up to a foot off trail.
CR 50 Church park trails are nice and very good powder in the bowls an fields.
up to your waist in areas.

I was at buff pass on the 27-29th of december and it was some of the better riding ive done all year. At least 3 feet of fresh when i was there. I see on sno tell it has settled alot though since ive been there. Was at close to 70 inches around 40 something now. All in all walden was a good place to stay other than trailering every day. Flat roads though and fairly quick trip to griz parking lot. All in all i really enjoyed the riding buff pass had to offer and would easily go again. Awesome boondockin if you find some untouched !

I was there January 4-6. Tracked up and rode hard. Been to Steamboat/Walden several times an I saw more sleds there this trip than I have seen on all the other trips combined. They need snow just like everyone else.

Not a good snow year in Colorado so far. central mountains are really bare landmines galore. North has had more snow but its pounded out and settled and no snow in the forecast. bring lots of A-arms!
