Wahl vs Avid Driver's

Putting the 162 Camo on my Nytro next week and was going to throw on some new Drivers. I'm stock now but may add boost soon.

Avid drivers are 240 a set.

Wahls drivers are 160 a set.

Whats the difference (besides the price) and are the Avids worth the extra coin?

If i'd known wahls were so much cheaper i would have got those. plenty of guys out here use them

From what I understand, Avids are made from billet plastic (one solid piece) and Wahls are cast/mold. They both seem to have the same specs, metal thickness on band, etc. I have three buddies who all use the Wahls on their boosted Yamaha's and not one has had problems with them. I personally have no experience with either.

Here's the real kicker-I called Avid to order their drivers. They took the order, charged my card and gave me a tracking number. The package arrived and I opened it. Guess what--they were Wahl drivers. I called to complain and they said that is what they sell for the '03 RX-1 Mtn. I already had Wahl drivers on the sled and heard that the Avid's "were the best" so I decided to change.

They were no help at all. I am still running the Wahl's with 2000+ miles with no problems so far.

I believe they only make the billet ones for the 3"pitch tracks.

I never had problems with the 9 tooth drivers on 2.52 tracks no mater how much boost on the 8 tooth you have to have the track a bit tighter and the 7 tooth on the 3" pitch will give a lot of grieve, there the Avid billet drivers shine.;)

never had problem with whal with 2.52, but my whal at 3.0 with the 2.5 inch track were junk after 500 km, non boosted. I ran avid now, 1500 km like new.

Wahl drivers are much softer that Avid. Had Wahls they wore out quickly, Avids are worn but still going great. Avids are better by far

The Wahls are a good driver, the Avids are great and bomb proof. Ive put more than 8000 km's on Avids. On a boosted sled I would never consider anything other than Avids.

Worth the extra few bucks.
