Wahl Bros. or Avid Racing Anti Rachets?

What's your opinions on both? One better than the other? Planning on installing a set on my sled soon with the anti-stab rollers. Still debating on what size gear to get between the 7,8,9 tooth options. Any installed pics would be appreciated......

I checked into this last year.

The Wahl Bros driver ARE nice quality plastic.. but they are made for the IQ splined driveshaft.

Here is what I posted on another thread

Just a heads up...

The Wahl drivers are for 2005-2010 IQ shafts only...

They use the same ones and "call them good" for the 2010-2013 Metric PRO Shafts.

The Metric drive shafts look similar but are about 1/16" smaller.

The Wahl bros drivers on the 2010-2013 PRO shaft will "fit" but will lack the proper interference/compression for correct installation.

Whal Bros description

No-Slip 2.86" Pitch Splined Drive Sprocket , Polaris, 8T. Found on many of the 2006 to present Polaris machines. Diameter = 7.125"
"Present" is not an accurate statement

My 2 cents

I just oredered and had my local Polaris shop instal a set of wahls 8T anti-rachet drivers; they didnt say anying about it being wrog.

I'm just wondering what size everyone is recommending? I know 3" pitch but 7,8,or 9 inch? Looks like the factory measured out at 7". What is everyone else running? Not sure about going to the 9" diameter would be a good move since it should move the gearing around some....

They are not measured in Inches (7, 8 or 9)... but in how many teeth are on the driver. for a given pitch the size increases with the number of teeth.

The height of your paddle and pitch of the track/driver determine the number of teeth (7, 8 or 9)

Note: Pitch refers to the distance between the center of driver windows/lugs on the track.

When I called Wahl bros last year... and talked to them about the drivers for the Polaris... they were unaware that the dimension of the shafts changed for the PRO RMK shafts...Sure the splines look the same and the driver will even be able to be pressed onto the shaft... but the PRO RMK driveshaft is smaller than the IQ-RMK driveshaft.

Wahl does not make a different driver for the IQ and PRO chassis splined shafts.

Sounds like your dealer ordered based off of incorrect catalog/web info.

Kind of a moot point on the Wahl Bros drivers for that track... You have to use Cat style 7 tooth drivers from AVID products for that... they are the only ones that will 1) work with the tracks drive lug configuration and 2)Give you the ability to run a 3" tall track.

Yeah I'm still not 100% sold on that track though....

It's seems the consensus is the Avid Racing drivers at this point for the 2012 Pro....

So what are they going to loosen up and get out of allignment? I guess I'll keep an eye on it.

They can walk on the shaft on you. I've heard of people drilling and tapping the metal ring on them to add a set screw. I didn't have any walking issues when I ran the whal's, but it only engages one set of introvert numbs and the track windows if not on a Polaris track. The Avis's engage two sets of introverts and use the wintows as an anti ratchet measure instead of a full time drive system. Much better design IMO

I ended up going with the 3" CE 3.00 pitch 162X15 today from Avid. Ordered the anti rachets and anti stab kit as well. I can't wait to get it installed. Dropping off the chaincase to get modified today. Thanks for all the suggestions..........

Took some time to go ahead and modify the chain case today before my drivers/anti-stab/and 3" CE track shows up :) :)

First one is a video.......
