Voltage indicator gauge flashing

Riding yesterday on 2010 D8 I Noticed that my voltage level gauge (the little battery symbol with the bars on the far right side of display) were blinking on and off) The level indicated only one bar when there are normally several lit. I have about 1600 problem free miles on the sled and the sled was running just fine when I noticed this. Just dropped it off at the dealer and they said they would check it out. Any one experienced this? Thanks for any input.

Hoping that's the problem with my '10. Fired it up on the trailer Sunday, ran for less than 10 secs on 1 1/2 cyls lol. Of course take it to dealer yesterday and it starts on third pull and purrs like a kitten, but the volt level gauge fluctuates between missing one and two bars. They are hesitant to change the VR even though the mech says that's the problem, it hasn't completely failed yet.. pushing them to just do it, hope it works out.

I sure hope that they will replace my vr before it fails totally -- only makes sense doesn't it:face-icon-small-dis

Also check very carefully for a frayed wire grounding out on the chassis, my 900 exhibited those symptoms last year and that's all it was.
