VOHK/Boondocker CAI intake tube??

So, Ive been seeing all sorts of pictures of installed kits on VOHK build sleds on facetube. They are putting frogskinz over drilled holes in the intake tubing under the hood. Is this a VOHK mod, or are the tubes coming from boondocker that way?

Anyone know the theory behind that? Looks like it would work pretty slick when the snow is deep, and the snorkel gets submerged from time to time it could draw underhood air (though it would be hot air, hot air is better than no air)

When the snorkel is not plugged with pow, I wonder if there is still much air being drawn from the underhood frogzskinz holes.

Anyone care to ponder? Come one you keyboard engineers...

Or should I just get drunk, look at things, and decide for myself?:face-icon-small-ton

My sled is set up like you describe and I do believe it helps in deep snow. However, I have no empirical data to support this.

Vohk is doing that for their builds. The idea is to maintain air flow and get more air flow. It works very well in deep snow. I've been very impressed with the response on the bottom end and top end is insane. I've riden in 3ft of fresh with this setup this year and very happy.
