Viper O2 sensors

Fellas,

I noticed the viper comes with a factory O2 sensor. I assume leaded fuels have the same effect on these sensors with a shortened life.. What happens if it dies on the mountain? I was considering mixing some 100LL in with every fill-up for piece of mind (premium at home is questionable right now). Advise?

Sled has the basic 270 mcx kit

Ran straight race all last year and had no problems. I think the factory 02 sensors are much better than the Bosch that we use for AFR gauges.

I run straight 100ll in my turbo phazer and now my turbo viper. My phazer had plenty of room for the bung extender and never had to replace the sensor in 4 years. However my viper doesn't have room so I'm currently running both sensors directly in the exhaust pipe. I've also been told that the factory sensor has a little more tolerance to lead than my Koso /Bosch LSU4.2. I'm not worried, I've got plenty of neighbors with brand new cars with factory warranty that have the same O2 sensor........

So that's an octane booster for unleaded fuels? Sorry I'm a fuel newbie!

no it keeps lead from building up on sensor as lead oxide.

Some white deposits may be seen on the plugs and in the exhaust pipe during use; this is normal with RunUp since the lead in the fuel is being converted to non conductive lead phosphate. When no additive is used, lead oxide is formed. It is lead oxide which causes plugs to misfire due to its partial conductivity shorting out the plug. In addition, lead oxide tends to form in large clumps or clinkers whereas the lead phosphate is crumbly and if anyy is left behind in the combustion chamber it deposits in even layers.

Looked at the Runup website. They recommend at least 1/2 ounce per gallon and to clean the o2 sensor every 20 hours. How much have you been using? Have you cleaned your 02 sensors? If so with what. Very interested in this stuff. I have a Alpine Apex. Ran two barrels of 100 LL and the NTK sensor was done. Thanks
