Vio lent!!!!

WOW.

A violent eruption of speed and HP from a big twin.....thanks to a change in the secondary.

I don't have any action pictures of me...I was too fast to take pics. LOL.
But I do have a couple of pics of Bob and his D8 playing in the pow that I'll get up tomorrow or so.

Tail-walking and some serious hill speed that was almost scary.

Was having problems seeing anything above 7400 rpms.....with a new 52/48 Tison helix.
http://snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64353.

Can't believe that 2° on the helix would make that much difference.

Went from a cat 52/48 to a Heel-X straight 46°. Hit 8300 and held 8100. Target it so hold 8400.

And the beast is ALIVE!!!!!!!!!! But have some room left to work. But, it appears that I've found the path to fun.

Gotta find a 52/44 so the bottem end will still hole shot hard, and the top end will shift out.

I also left about .75" of a red marker line on the primary...it didn't shift out all the way.
Just need to reshim the secondary, or replace my belt. That outta do it, right?

Pics to come.

'Bout time!

How many years have you been trying to get that turd to run?;) 'Bout damn time!:D

B C...F.O.
It hasn't been THAT bad. Just since changed teh helix last year.

LOL

OK OK, I was thinking this was still from years ago when all the metal shavings went thru the motor. I think your luck is about as good as mine. But still, it is March FFS.

Just make sure when you get a multi angle helix, the big angle is short. Most multi angle helixes for a Cat, the transition is in the center. So, chances are, you were never on the 48. Good luck!!

Well, it IS only the 2nd time I've been on it trying to figure my problem this year,
That's actually decent amount of tuning rides, eh?

Hmmmm. Maybe so. Hadn't thought of that.

Couple friends of mine were up there with I think the guys name is shane heart tuning his D8 turbo that he was picking up. Burned it down saturday 1/2 mile from the truck(short going to attitude box) but had good luck with it sunday. They let my other friend that went with him ride an edge chassis turbo but it lost the fuel pump about an hour into the day. You see anybody matching that description?

I was up there on Sunday on the Granite side. We didn't see Shane anywhere.

How could anyone miss the helmet mohawk?:D
Looked like that edge turbo made it about 40 seconds from the pass lot.:(

From then title of this thread I thought that Olmstead had locked you in a full-nelson and you had gone crazy bobcat on his azz. :D

Glad to hear the sled has been awakened Scott. :light:

don't go so steep

With the bigbore you don't need to run a steep helix, they make enough power to accelerate hard already. I found that they also are harder to get to backshift, they make so much tq that they keep that primary clamped. For cat helixes I would use a 47 or 45 in deep, wet and heavy snow. 49 in the spring depending on conditions, elevation etc. A 48/44 works pretty good for a variable.

I think Shane only wears his hawaiian shirt when he races. LOL

I went to the hospital to see an old friend who was sick. He had aged about 30 years and got REALLY skinny. Like AIDS skinny. It was YOU. Freaking WEIRD stuff. LOL
