By default, there should be NO SOUND when the video stream begins.

failure, that stupid thing keeps playing. No mousing over it either. I cleared my browser cache also.
I too was annoyed, to put it mildly. Corporate greed in favour of member satisfaction and IMHO that is the way SnoWest has always been. I have come back for my own motives and it took two days to figure out my solution; every time I come onto SnoWest, I use the volume mute key. Easy-peasy........and my blood pressure is back to normal!
I found it SO annoying I went into my settings and blocked then
Wish I could wave a magic wand and solve this problem for any and all that are effected by it.
But the best I can do is to offer the Premium/Lifetime Members a way out.

But for those on limited bandwidth, it won't help the site speed or increase the viewable size of the page.
Don't be too hard on Harris.
They are actually a pretty good group of people to work with.
Just remember, they are in the business of selling advertising.
And right now all of the manufacturers WANT video ads.
That is the hot ticket at the moment.
So Harris is just doing their best to offer the commercial advertisors what they want.

This is COMPLETE BS!!! When Snowest went to pay membership, whatever I get it. Now they want us to fork over more $$$ just to avoid adds??? That is BULL****! Especially since they screwed up the programming and can't or do not want to get it right(starting the video on its own without mousing over it.)
They need to remember if they keep pissing members off, soon there won't be any to read the forums. This might end up being the last year I pay for membership. Why not just include the no add option for paying members instead of adding it on alacarte. Trying to bleed another $4 just for no adds get real!

Please understand this option did not come from Harris.
This is a feature "I" created and negotiated with them for you as a specific solution to a problem that was driving a small number of our members nuts.
Everyone on the business side would prefer this option didn't exist.
There is not an advertiser that I know of that wants you to turn off their ads.
Ok then lets ask the really difficult question here. Who is more important to Snowest and Harris, the people who read snowest and pay for subscriptions or the advertisers?
