Very Interesting read on Chernobyl

I have a buddy who was part of a group that brought kids over to live with them for 6 weeks at a time. The idea was to get them out of the poverty and the 6 weeks was what they needed to clean their systems of the radiation...... He has some strange stories about the kids that came over..... poverty, no running water, no food, etc..

Read that story a few years back.... real interesting... amazing photos.

Gotta be surreal to ride through a place like that.

Sure I'd do it. But I need a turbo Hyabusa with nitrous. Wonder if the radiation could catch that? heydidyouseethatbuildingandthatswherethereactorexplodedandnowweareintheghosttownandnowwegottagoooooooo! Whole freakin tour at 220.

Could this be Pakistan next?

Please explain. This is an area that was expoesd to an event that hopefully will never ever happen again!

That was an interesting journey. She is a brave person to go through the area and see the desolate remains. Kinda eery, and I bet a lot of memories were left behind. A pure trajedy.:(

Thgaanks for sharing this!

Wow, everybody's heard of this place, but I had no idea how bad it actually was.:( I had just turned 1 when it happened.

It must be surreal to enter a place like that where time stopped 20+ years ago and see exactly what those people were doing the day they left.

I emailed it to everyone at work.. thanks for the read.

My wife is from Ukraine several hours south of that mess.
During a trip to the cemetary to pay respects to her (deceased)folks, I saw way out of proportion amounts of young army aged men that died trying to stop the leaks.
They had manpower but were short of technology so they used what they had.
The thing that must be remembered is that this happened shortly after the Soviet Union collapsed and that whole area was in turmoil and broke! Things are better now.
I'll be headed back there in April for a month.
