Could someone tell me the part number for an electric start kit to fit an 04 Vertical Edge 800? (And a good place to buy it.) :)

mikmart701 or bluedave are the two sites where Polaris OEM accessories seem to be listed regularly.

Try them and see. Otherwise it's going to be an e-bay seller with a take off. I learned the hard way that you need to find a clutch with the ring already attached, you can't just get a ring and bolt it on yourself as the clutch isn't drilled and tapped from the factory. Getting the battery holder and solenoid is more straightforward.

I didn't ask if you had tried a dealer? Or Babbitt's online?

I couldn't figure out a number to find one at the online places. Dealer wanted what I thought was way too much, but now knowing that there may have been a clutch included, that makes sense.
What a pain. I guess Polaris didn't figure a lot of Verticle Edge 800 owners would want e-start, lol.

I think what we are seeing is that the age of our sleds is making it harder to get ahold of some of these parts.

The 800 clutch is different which makes it harder to score on the market.

I would advise patience. I've seen them on e-bay as people buy a used sled and then take them off. But then they need a different clutch themselves unless you could work a trade, your clutch for theirs.

It is strange. Polaris obviously doesn't want to support older models. (Just look at the website and try to find older models.) Skidoo and Cat both have full links to past models on their sites, it is very convenient for reference.

I just went thru changing my girlfriends 700 over to electric start, and it took me about 2 months searching online for a used setup. I ended up spending a total of $375.00 after I rebuilt the spider, bought a new battery and spring. I used my same weights. I did learn that the 800 is different than the other edge models. Hers is a 2004 switchback and polaris has already discontinued the part number. A kit for my 2005 600 edge is still a good number, costs $600.. new.

Hmm. I am looking for a customer, he was quoted $375 or so from the local Poo dealer, I originally thought that was high and figured I could find a better deal. Seems like that IS a very good deal.

I suppose what I am working on is 7 years old. But it's not like the 90's when a 7 year old machine is so far out of date that most people won't run them. I bet a lack of support for older models is marketing for Polaris to get people to upgrade to newer machines. They should realize that some people WON'T ever get rid of those sleds, because they like them!
Run a new Pro RMK into a rock. Then run an Edge into that same rock.
Most people would rather buy a trailing arm than total out a sled, and the performance advantage of a newer model just isn't going to be realized by a lot of people.
