It's upgrade time for me and I hate my blackberry storm. I have been looking at the droid and it seems like a pretty cool phone. Anybody have one?

I have had one for about a month. It does a lot more than I know what to do with. I have to use the virtual keyboard as, I have big fingers. The camera and video are ok. Camera is slow to snap the shutter, so I miss a lot of pix of my 22 month old. It can be theathered to a computer.

Let me know what you want to know about it.

I've had mine for a few months now. The web browsing is really fast, phone works great, integration with all contact lists is useful (outlook, facebook, etc.)

The one thing that I will warn anyone about is the compatibility with MS Outlook for corporate emails and calendar. The email part works OK, the calendar part flat out does not work. The only good solution that I found is to download "Touchdown" from the app store. It is a $20 ap which sucks - google needs to pull their heads out and face the fact that 95% of corporate email is on Exchange, and they need to support it out of the box.

The other application that I will suggest is doubletwist. It is an application that allows you to sync all of you music, videos, and pictures from your IPOD, Computer, Etc. to your droid. Great app.

PM me with any questions - I don't check these forums as often as I used to.

TMK, what doesn't work with the calendar?

We have 2 we just purchased for evaluation, but I haven't tried them out yet other than setting them up to sync with Exchange.

i don't mean to get off subject for you, but what didn't you like about the blackberry? i'm coming up on update time and was looking at either the storm or curve... pry leaning toward the curve since i seem to be kind of hard on touch screen devices.

I've had the Droid since it came out, and I love it. The only thing I'm not to fond of is the Outlook problem. It works great with my yahoo address, but not so good with my outlook. The google maps GPS is awesome. Comes standard on the phone, and works perfect. There's several apps you can download for texting, that make it alot easier.

The sound quality is very good too. It pretty much does everything the I-phone does, but you get alot better coverage with it. Browsing speed on the net is very fast compared to other phones I've played with. Download the advance task killer, and you can just kill all you apps that are running with 1 button. I like being able to run multiple apps also.

The calendar on the driod does not 'sync' with my Outlook Calendar, it errors out everytime I try to sync. I spent a ton of time on the droid forums and none of the suggested 'fixes' worked for me to resolve the calendar syncing issue. The emails and contact lists sync fine.

If calendar isn't a big deal for you, then Outlook integration will work fine. My problem is that I need to accept/decline meetings from my phone when I am away from my laptop (meeting times are constantly changing on the projects I work on).

Touchdown was the only app that I found that would work for me.

I forgot to mention - doubletwist is a free download to your PC. It is not in the android store. http://www.doubletwist.com/dt/Home/Index.dt

I'm not into games much on the phone other than the basic card games to pass the time, but from what I understand the games are not as good as what is out for the iPhone. But the iPhone has a 2-3 year lead on that??

what are the texting apps?

so after a week with my Droid, I am returning it, I decided to go with a Iphone, don't get me wrong, the Droid is a great phone, I am just alot more used to my Ipod touch. I absolutely love my touch, and the plan was to get an iphone, but we have had verizon for a couple years and I told my wife I would give it a try. now she is pissed!

I'm thinking about a droid too. I can't decide between a droid or a storm2. Anybody have a storm2?

another good txt app for the droid is shape writer, i've had my droid for a couple of months and have been completely satisfied with it. as mentioned before the camera is slow but it takes some great videos

Love my Droid. What my friends like better about the Droid over the I-phone is that I ACTUALLY GET SERVICE IN THE MOUNTAINS!!! Was able to download where I was on google earth last weekend to figure out how to get into a new area. My I-phone buddies were pissed! Took some getting used to but still the best phone I've seen from Verizon.

a few weeks ago when I had my droid, I went on a trip with a buddy of mine to take his boy snox racing in wyoming, he has a new Iphone 3gs and I had my Droid, it was a 4 hour drive to the race, I kept checking signals on both phones, he had better service most of the trip, when we got to the track, I did not have service at all, he had full bars. the droid is a good phone, its a little slow go throught the screens and the menu, just seems a little bit of lag, it reminds me of my storm when it first came out, it took them a few software updates to get the storm right, and I am sure they will with the droid, I just like the snappier feel of the Iphone, and it has better service where I am at. Love my new Iphone!
