Vents for a Retro Pro 163

I purchased a 163 Retro and I was wondering if any manufacture has made some vents that won’t cover the stock side panel decals.

I think the SLP hot air elimination kit would ruin the look.

Have you tried these vents? Or has anyone?? I like the idea of impact resistance but I haven't seen much on them and I'm hesitant to spend 200 bucks on a product I haven't seen much about...

i haven't yet, but have some coming. talked to a guy with them last season on his sled and he really liked them. he said they worked better than normal vents beacuse they use a sort of venturi effect in that they use the air moving past them to pull hot air out.

hmm

I like the idea, need more info... What about getting clogged up with snow, or melting snow, ice????

not real sure but i'd think they would stay clean better than normal mesh ones as you would have to drive in reverse to start packing snow into them.

I like the design, I agree it would be hard to clog them up, plus they are paintable. I would love to hear from someone who has used these vents! I wonder how much cooler the clutches would run?

Just do the front tower and knee vents and call it good. That's all I've had on my Pro and it is fine. Haven't needed the side panels. I also run a Tied so I stay a little cooler in the secondary (in theory).

What kind of vents would you recommend? Every company makes the best vent out there, and there's alot to choose from! Is there really much difference in them or is it a dime a dozen deal?

There are so many now. I did the Holz tower vents (not too big but provide extra air) and the Holz knee vents (nice fit). There are others, I just didn't want to butcher up my side panels with more vents.

Weird, I rode my sled 990 before I had to change a belt. Only sleds vented here are turbo'd

Thanks for the info! I'll look into the holz venting :) I'm gonna send my clutch to Carls too I think.

We are working on one!

We are currently working on a design that will go with the retro sleds. The tough part is keeping the Polaris across where the vent would go and the side panel. We have an idea and will be posting it as soon as we get it mocked up. I think it'll be awesome though.

Stay tuned!

This (and the console vent/s). Read the thread on venting by MH: http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249254
Bottom line from those in-the-know is you should focus on getting hot air OUT, not worry about getting cool air in (which the Pro does plenty well with stock venting). The knee and console vents completely solve the heat build issue and don't mess with your graphics. Carl's clutching and sheave mod solve the belt temp issue.

Have FUN!

I have the Gill Vent on my 163 and have not had any heat issues since. Evan after reverse they seem to clear out.

Try giving Mountain Fit Hoods a call the website hasnt been updated yet due to the push for the snow shows and new products coming out. 509-218-1397 They have a six piece kit that will not cover any of your graphics. The Three pieces on eahc side go rright above the rubber strap point, on the pizza shaped area low on the panel, and where your knee would hit the panel in the rear/ Works well, cost in right, and lifetime warranty. Cant beat that. If you cant find any pictures i can take some of mine.
