Vector/rx1 turbo Guys Jetting Question

Ok, So last trip out west I had issues with my jetting on my sled(yamadoo with turbo vector motor).

Now I have a different pitot tube setup, more like the way powderlites/alpine was on the vector. I have the sled running right where I want it here(1000'). We are going out west for a very quick weekend and I don't wanna be wrenching.

So I guess my question is for anyone who has had a vector or rx1 with a powderlites turbo on it and have ridden from 1000-10000ft or have gone from the midwest to out west. HAVE YOU HAD TO CHANGE THE JETTING WHEN YOU GET OUT WEST TO BE HAPPY WITH THE SLED?

If so how many jet sizes did you drop.

I am not trying to beat a dead horse I just can't find much info on this.

Ill just give you my small info as it might help some.. mine ran safe afr's at my folks shop at 3k and ran good all the way into the 9k++ range in cooke. it was definately a bit richer up high, but it was pretty consistant, maybe drop like 1 size if anything?? my carbs only took like half an hour to rejet thought, so it wasnt to bad.

or do a little bleeder system to help clean the top end out a little bit.

This is interesting to hear.

Anyone else have any other info on this subject. I am really looking to hear from a current or former vector owner as well.

I actually don't care to much if my sled is fat at full throttle mostly my concern is how it acts at cruising and off idle. I think that I have it fixed to work right but just looking to hear what others have experienced.

A guy in our group has a turbo vector and we never jet it from 2000 feet right to 8500 feet. I think its a powderlites kit. Its IAMVectors old sled.

That is good to hear. Like I said it is not a powderlites kit i am running but the carb pressure reference tubes are similiar in size and config as powderlites.

i used to have a turbo vector with simons/powderlites turbo and it was very forgiving on jetting i never needed to change jets in it. if you look at the yamaha manual (i realize your sled is turbo'd) it specifies a 148 main for sea level up to 7 or 8k then a 145 above 8k so its very little difference just shows you how forgiving they are. carry a spare set of plugs just in case.

Sounds good. Should work for me now. I had to much pressure reference to the carbs last trip out without the tee back into the intercooler. I am very excited to give it another go. . . hopefully the snow is good!

THe main problem is that it is a nightmare to change the jetting. . . especially out in the cold. May be a slight design flaw. Sure wish it was fuel injected.
