Valve direction

So I took my vavles out and cleaned them and I can't remember what way they go in is it the smooth side to the top or bottom? Feel dumb for asking btw but someone has to know.View attachment 237963 The picture is the smooth side

They will only fit correctly one way there is a lip beneath the guillotine that will hold it from fitting right if installed wrong

Ok I thought so. When I put them in there's probley a quater inch that they stick out yet so when I tighten them there's alittle bit of tension on the spring is that normal?
