Valemount RCMP (BULLETIN!!)

Hey guys!, just got home from a wonderful fall weekend in Valemount. Took the family up to the Clemina Cabin just to check things out.

Of course it wouldnt be a good trip without the local RCMP pulling me over. He had stopped me for having my HID lights and having my fog lights on. Of course it wasnt foggy so I understand being stopped for that, but as far as the HID's I was not aware and got the low down on that.

As it turns out they are not illegal, however in the stock headlight housing they are. They say it needs to be in a projector style lense and your A ok.

But as the officer and I started talking he began to tell me how they plan to have zero tolerance this year. Towing trucks and trailers as well as full fines will be enforced to the fullest.

So check your trailer and truck to be sure it is all compliant so you dont have a crappy time out there.

WOW maybe someone should tell them to lay off a bit cause it will end up only hurting the town and its businesses there. Cause i know if thats how they are going to be i would rather just take my riding somewhere else which means spend my alberta oil money else where!!!!!!!

LAME !! the RCMP has always been really stingie in that region, Im already hating driving with halogen bulbs.

sorry to hear that the police in that town just wont let up... i have not had any trouble when i went there but know of some that have... like you said just real picky .. good thing there are other places to ride .... to bad

He stopped you for not having BC plates on your truck is what he did. The RCMP in BC are the most powertripping pricks I've ever seen. Even the Alberta Sherriffs aren't that bad. That said, if it'll stop people from putting steel sled decks with 2 yamahas on f-150s with no airbags and p-rated tires then I'm all for it. I wouldn't put anything past the mermaids at Tete Jaune Cache.

RCMP

That stuff has been going on for years in Valemount.
DOT and RC's sit there waiting for a truck with no front plate then automatically yanked and detained for 45 minutes while they check out your rig.
That is one reason I have decided to take my money else where to ride.
You have to know your stuff also, had the DOT yank the emergency pin on my brand new trailer to check the operation of it.
The emergency battery is not wired in to the truck and needs to be removed to be recharged, so the DOT made me illegal by draining that battery.
This was on a Middlebury trailer, but my new trailer is wired exactly the same, recharge Battery every year.
So be careful with theses plicks, their ignorance is going to kill someone, and they will not think twice about writing you a fine.

is that a normal setup? my triton has the battery and indicator lights to let you know when the battery is charging from the plug and also when it is fully charged. they have done the emergency cable check on mine as well. at the wide spot just south of town is where they usually set up, been stopped there a few times with no issues.

I don't understand how their ignorance is going to kill someone? please explain?

Just a thought...maybe it's not the fact that you're from Alberta....but the fact that there are a LOT if billy big rigger Albertans who go out of their way to make their trucks as illegal as possible, and then whine when they get called on it. I doubt you will get hassled much if your **** looks 1/2 way reasonable. If its all jacked up, loud, crappy tires, illegal lights....what do you expect?

you wouldn't be saying that when billy big rig pulls you out of the parking lot with his jacked up truck.

I drive further up the road than any of the AB monster truck+ big trailer combos. If I get f'd up, i'll figure something out. Promise. Lived here my whole life.... got nothing to prove in the mountains.

Not saying there aren't good guys that come riding here from AB. Just offering some insight as to why the stereotypical AB brodozer gets hassled by the cops. Don't have to listen to me...by all means have fun with the law.

Attended a Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection/ Out of Province seminar last week and got the low down on the HID lights, exactly what the one guy said HID's are not illegal if they are in a dot/csa approved projector style head lamp housing, but hacking a cheep hid kit into your stock non-projector housings is illegal even in alberta and fails a cvip or out of province inspection. A peace officer can pull you over and require you have a your vehicle inspected if your lights are wrong, that inspection is a salavage inspection which is a big pain in the but and makes a cvip or out of province look like a walk in the park.

They are actually enforcing the law! Doing there job as you do your job. Little heads up. They will be enforcing it in the east koootenays as well.
