So I just want to b*itch for a minute and to ask for help. First off I have been working on my degree as an Athletic Trainer at Casper College for the past two years. I graduated this spring with associates in that and phys ed. I was accepted into The Univ. of Wyoming to start in the fall. (that was late March)
So thursday I get this email

On June 4, 2009, President Buchanan announced the University of Wyoming’s plan to address the 10% reduction in the University’s state funding announced by Governor Freudenthal, and the specific actions necessary to accommodate this substantial reduction in UW’s budget. Complete details of the University’s overall response can be seen at www.uwyo.edu/president/outbox. One of the specific actions listed under the heading Eliminating Units and Reducing Personnel was the phasing out of the Athletic Training Program concentration offered through the Division of Kinesiology and Health. To accommodate this reduction in our funding, the Division will take the following steps:
1. Instruction sufficient to allow students who are within one academic year of finishing the Athletic Training Program concentration will be provided Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.
2. Instruction for all 1000, 2000, and 3000 level athletic training courses will not be provided beginning Fall Semester 2009. More specifically, the following athletic training courses will no longer be taught beginning Fall 2009: KIN 1052, 2057, 2068, 3052, and 3068.
Students who are enrolled in KIN 3052 and 3068 for Fall Semester 2009 will be administratively dropped from these courses by the Division this coming week, however, you will be given the opportunity to continue your academic studies in the Kinesiology and Health Promotion (K&HP) major at the University of Wyoming. This major provides you a number of exciting options which we hope you will give us the opportunity to discuss with you. If you do wish to change from the Athletic Training Program concentration to the K&HP major, please contact the Division’s Office Associate for Undergraduate Programs (307-766-5449; jmartin@uwyo.edu). She will help you enroll in two other HLED and/or KIN courses for Fall Semester 2009 as a result of being dropped from KIN 3052 and 3068. Unfortunately, those of you who want to continue to pursue an accredited academic program in athletic training will have to do so at another university/college.
My issue is that UW is THE ONLY 4 YEAR UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE OF WYOMING and they act like they know it. They pretty much have screwed me for at least a year as it is too late to apply to a different program on June 12. If anyone had time or motivation to help tell them of their inappropriateness in this situations handling I would be thankful.
