Utah Youth Elk hunt - thanks to all that helped

Well the Utah Youth elk hunt is over and my daughter didn't get a shot. If that was what it was all about we would be sad, but it isn't. According to the GPS we put 22 miles on our boots in 4 days of hunting. We saw some beautiful country and more importantly I spent many hours with my 16 year old daughter just talking about 'stuff'.

Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions and tips and info on the areas we thought about hunting and actually hunted.

Thanks especially to Spencer for dragging my butt up to his 'secret' place and letting me in on it. We were on to 6 bulls there Saturday morning right at day break, but they moved in to the private property before we got a shot... but for about 30 minutes we were right in the middle of 6 bulls screaming at each other and that was beyond exciting.

Anyway, thanks again for the help and suggestions. Although she didn't shoot one it was a dang good hunt.

some of my best memories from my youth involve the elk hunt or the deer hunt. Good on ya for taking your daughter.

Oh the reminiscing begins............. For me it was complete roughing it. Sleeping in the back of the truck with elk and moose hides for blankets. Or the ground in a lame tent with a tree root on some part of my body. If we got cold my dad told us to put on another pair of socks. I remember waking up with frost up my nose with my fingers and toes tingling. Oh those were the days. I would say the best part was the campfire and the hot cocoa. :face-icon-small-hap Good times. Good times.

All joking aside Dan. It's great to get out with our families and make memories one way or another. That's real exciting that you saw what you did and walked on new paths. You can't beat that!!!
