Used vs New 08 Rev XP Summit 800

Asking for your thoughts regarding Used vs. New on an 08 Rev XP Everest Summit 800

I am looking at two sleds at a local dealer:

#1 Used, 300 miles, can, skid plate, arm guards, milled heads, looks sharp, all recalls completed, no warranty left $7700

#2 New, 3 yr warranty, all stock, 0 miles $8600

Warranty vs. 300miles and some tricks for $900 diff.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would get the new one. Just the 3 year warranty is worth the extra to me. Unfortunatly snowmobiles (ski doo's especially) are very unreliable.

$8,600 for a brand new one is a great deal. I paid $9,500 for my 08 xp at the end of dec last year and I did alot of calling and checking around for that price. Most wanted $9,900 and I found a place 4 hours away for $9,700. At the end of last year you could get a 08 154 xp for $8,600.

Where are you at? Anyway I would get the new one as well if you paln on keeping it for a while. Also if you want the used one most dealers have aftermarket warranties you can buy if you want the protection.

I would buy the used one and buy a 1 - 2year warranty for the difference.
Remember to negotiate the price of the warranty. NO more than $100 profit to the dealer for the warranty. It's a win win for them. They get paid for selling it and they get payed again by the factory for the repairs.
My dealer tried to sell an extended plan for $898 for 1 year I worked them down to $549. The 2year $998 down to $649, Both gives them $50 profit for the sale. And you won't have to spend $ on basic mods which will pay for a lot of gas and oil.

Just my .02

Good luck.

I'd go with the used one also. It already has about $6-$700 in acces., and I was quoted around $600 for the 3 year extended warrenty. You come out about 8-9 hundred ahead. That's worth 300 miles IMO!

I would buy the new one hands down for that price difference. The XPs are damn nice sleds but I know one guy who had one last year that was broken badly three times. I would want the warranty if it was me. Of course, the warranty won't have you on the snow if the thing busts a crank and it is going to take a week or two to get fixed.
