Urgent help please?

I bought a new track (CE 16 wide) because my stock one split on me. Got everything taken out and put back in (just a few little hickups) but not to bad. Now I am in the process of getting the chaincase back together, and I forgot how the reverse forks sit, should they be in the groove of the bottom gear or resting on the chaincaseor does it matter? Thanks for any help.

They go inside the groove. It only goes in one way but it is a PITA if you have not done it before. Hold the reverse shaft at about 60 degrees. When you push the case on (all the way) try pushing down on the shaft....if it does not move you do not have it in the right position....if it moves down engaging the reverse you are good to go.

Edit: This is for a Nytro but I am guessing that they are all the same as I do not know what sled you are riding.

Rub some oil on the upper gear shaft in the chaincase priot to trying to sliding the case on. Start the case on about 1 inch on the upper shaft. Hold the reverse linkage straight up and down. Push the case on (soflty) turning the linkage towards the bulkhead about another inch or so, you should be able to wiggle the linkage and it should move no more than 1/4 inch. It is sitting in the groove on the reverse gear at this poit. If you don't feel this you are not on correctly. Once you get the assembly in the groove just tap the housing on tapping the top and bottom soflty with your hand or mallet. Push the housing all the way on then put 2 of the 6 bolts in it. Hook the linkage up and see if the reverse engages. You may have to lift the rear of the sled and wiggle th etrack a bit.

Thanks people, I got it all back together, good thing I double checked everything, I had those 2 little gears in wrong also!! This is on an Apex, sorry I didnt mention that. So now with the new track on should I even have to worry about tightening or loosening it? It is the same length of track and I didnt loosen the other one to get it off. I just wiggled the suspension out and put it in the new one. I lifter the track up and spun it for a bit in forward and reverse. It looks like it is running straight but will keep an eye on it my first ride out.
